In 2020 Greene King implemented Infor System21 Aurora to centralize ERP Financial operations across its retail business, establishing the application as the core finance engine for the organisation. The deployment focused on enterprise financial workflows, positioning Infor System21 Aurora to manage general ledger and core financial accounting functions within the retailer.
The implementation encompassed standard ERP Financial modules and capabilities including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset accounting, intercompany accounting, financial reporting and reconciliation, and embedded control and audit trail functionality. Configuration work emphasized chart of accounts harmonization, period close orchestration, and financial reporting templates to align with the companys corporate finance processes.
A significant technical scope element was interface and integration analysis, with up to 80 interfaces assessed during the upgrade program. Integrations reviewed included point of sale and inventory systems, supply chain and merchandising feeds, HR and payroll interfaces, banking and payment rails, and third party supplier and tax data exchanges, coordinated between in‑house teams and external development groups.
Operational governance was driven through structured requirement capture and impact assessment activities, led by the Greens King Business Analyst team and supported by in‑house and third party design teams. From April 2022 to January 2023 the ERP Business Analyst was responsible for analysis, design and impact assessment for the upgrade, documenting business processes, articulating requirements to design and development teams, and delivering the client requested impact assessments for the ERP upgrade and related projects.

In 2021 Greene King implemented Oracle PeopleSoft HCM to provide Core HR capabilities across its enterprise. The rollout engaged Succeed Consultancy now Symatrix as the implementation partner and assigned a part time AWS Cloud Architect and SQL Server 2016 DBA based in Manchester England to manage the environment.
Architecturally the Oracle PeopleSoft HCM deployment is hosted on Amazon Web Services, using load balanced PeopleSoft application tiers paired with SQL Server 2016 databases. Environments were cloned and automated using Amazon Machine Images to support full scale application tiers, and the PeopleSoft HRMS 9.2 instance is maintained with PeopleSoft Update Manager updates currently at PUM41.
Operational responsibilities encompassed SQL Server 2016 database administration, including backups, restores, performance tuning, and point in time disaster recovery tests, along with the application of CPU updates and security patches in line with CVE guidance. A cloud security policy was implemented and enforced using Crowdstrike and Tenable across all virtual machines, and these controls were integrated into change and patching workflows.
Governance centered on a scheduled PUM lifecycle, defined patch and update cadence, and automated cloning and provisioning procedures, with Symatrix providing ongoing technical architecture and DBA support. Greene King Oracle PeopleSoft HCM Core HR functions as the enterprise HRMS platform for personnel records and HR transaction processing, operated within an AWS-hosted architecture with documented processes for updates backup and incident response.

In 2020, Greene King implemented IBM Cognos Analytics to centralize finance reporting and planning. The IBM Cognos Analytics deployment is cataloged in the Analytics and BI category and was positioned to support weekly, periodic, quarterly, annual and ad hoc performance reporting across the Group.
The implementation emphasized core reporting and planning capabilities, including scheduled financial reporting, ad hoc query and analysis, dashboard visualization, GL and cost centre level budgeting and forecasting workflows, and structured commentary capture for budget holders. IBM Cognos Analytics was configured to operationalize detailed budgets and forecasts at GL and cost centre granularity and to produce first line commentary and variance explanations to support finance business partners.
Operational coverage centered on the finance function across the Group, supporting period end close activities, the preparation of journals, accruals and prepayments, and first line business partnering for specific business areas. The solution was configured to consume general ledger and cost centre data feeds and to produce validated reporting outputs that feed into group planning processes.
Governance and control focused on data validation, quality checks and standardized control standards to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reports, aligning with Finance Reporting and Planning responsibilities. Adoption required finance analysts to develop IBM Cognos Analytics proficiency alongside advanced spreadsheet skills, enabling standardized reporting workflows, controlled forecasting processes and on demand ad hoc analysis.
