In 2016 Growmark implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform to centralize quality, procurement, inventory and distribution workflows for batch managed seed materials. The engagement focused on embedding Quality Management capabilities across purchasing from growers, source inspection, blend operations, sales and deliveries, and customer returns.
The implementation delivered SAP Quality Management functionality configured for batch management, complex inspection plans and physical sample handling for lab testing, with enhancements to support carry over, re-bag and re-tag processes. Processes for blend management and inventory control were modeled alongside inspection plans, and training materials were developed to align operational users to inspection and quality workflows.
Architecturally the solution used the S/4HANA database and leveraged SAP ECC6 QM solution patterns while integrating quality workflows with Extended Warehouse Management led inventory controls and laboratory information management system testing for physical samples. Integrations explicitly included EWM for inventory management and lab sample workflows described as LIMS for test orchestration and results handling.
Governance followed a full lifecycle delivery from blueprinting through go-live and post go-live support, with end user training and documentation produced and delivered. The implementation engagement noted Jan 2019 to Feb 2020 as the consultant contract period and concluded with a successful go-live and ongoing post-go-live support for Growmark quality and inventory operations.

In 2024 Growmark implemented Redwood RunMyJobs as a Business Process Management solution to consolidate disparate workload automation across its enterprise IT landscape. The deployment targeted a cloud-native orchestration model to provide a single consolidated view of batch and scheduled processes for a regional agricultural cooperative with multiple business units and an SAP ERP footprint, alongside entrenched on-prem automation tools.
Implementation began by migrating SAP processes into Redwood RunMyJobs while taking a greenfield approach to jobs that had existed in AutoSys, recreating each job one at a time to clean up and consolidate workflows. The configuration work focused on orchestration capabilities and job dependency constructs that move beyond time-based scheduling, enabling downstream jobs to be aware of upstream job success and preventing later tasks from running if prerequisite jobs failed or had not completed.
Operational integrations documented in the implementation included direct coordination with SAP scheduled tasks and recreated AutoSys workloads, with explicit acknowledgement that Redwood supports automated AutoSys migration yet Growmark chose manual recreation to allow process rationalization. The technical scope covered cross-system job orchestration, batch processing control, and centralized monitoring so that troubleshooting could be handled from a single operational view instead of separate scheduling teams.
Governance and rollout emphasized consensus building within IT and a larger digital program, reworking runbooks and incident procedures so one person could triage issues using the consolidated platform. The team used the migration as an opportunity to retire redundant jobs and simplify workflows, aligning operational ownership and incident response to the new orchestration layer.
Outcomes recorded during the project include removing roughly one third of AutoSys jobs through consolidation and cleanup, establishing a cloud-native orchestration platform in Redwood RunMyJobs, and creating a single operational view that reduced cross-team coordination for troubleshooting. These changes directly addressed fragile, fragmented business processes and the need for end-to-end process visibility across systems.
