In 2018, iCare implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its SAP S/4 HANA 1809 Finance system to centralize ERP Financial processes across the insurer’s finance organization. The deployment targeted core finance operations and established SAP S/4 HANA as the primary ERP Financial platform supporting transactional finance, reporting, and planning workflows.
The implementation included SAP BW and SAP BPC for reporting and planning capabilities tightly coupled to SAP S/4 HANA 1809, and configuration focused on stabilizing finance interfaces and financial system operations. Functional coverage emphasized finance modules, data warehousing and planning, with the SAP Practice Basis Support Analyst and Technical Team Lead responsible for basis and technical support, daily health checks, and performance monitoring.
Operational integrations were explicit and remained part of steady state operations, including interfaces to Guidewire and Westpac along with other payment and insurance processing touchpoints. The program instituted daily landscape monitoring, SAP health checks, disaster recovery exercises for the SAP Financial Systems, and business continuity governance with a single point of contact for major production escalations.
Governance and operational handover processes were formalized under the Financial Systems Operations team, with responsibilities to enforce controls, meet internal and external audit requirements, own remediation activities, and perform impact and risk analysis for changes entering production. The SAP Practice Basis Support Analyst and Technical Team Lead also played a central role in finance projects that impacted the SAP S/4 HANA environment, driving vendor and partner engagement to address system stability and upgrade priorities.
