In 2013, IDC Frontier implemented Microsoft Dynamics AX as ERP Financial. The engagement was part of the Cloud Computing portal project and covered development, verification, and operational testing across finance, subscription billing and related backend services.
Testing and configuration work included designing and executing test plans, test scenarios and test cases, covering functional, regression, positive, negative, end to end and UAT workflows. Microsoft Dynamics AX was validated as part of these finance and billing scenarios, with automated frontend test scripts developed in Java using Selenium-WebDriver and Selenium-Grid, and backend automation written in PHP to exercise subscription management, billing, invoicing and the payment gateway.
Integrations and operational coverage focused on web API interactions and data flows between financial modules and customer subscription systems, with shell scripts created to generate HTTP requests and verify responses. Sales and marketing data retrieval and troubleshooting were supported with Perl and SQL scripts, and web based query reports were implemented using PHP and SQL to surface KPI and transactional data for stakeholders.
Governance and delivery practices included participation in requirements gathering and writing functional specifications, plus collaboration with the IT team to set up, maintain and enhance test environments using CloudStack, VMware vSphere and vCenter. Tooling and process controls used Redmine for issue tracking, Git for source control, and automation frameworks to support repeatable regression cycles and UAT for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.
