In 2011, Imperial Oil implemented UKG Workforce Central Timekeeper (ex Kronos Workforce Timekeeper) as its enterprise Time and Attendance system. The deployment established UKG Workforce Central Timekeeper as the centralized Time and Attendance application supporting timekeeping, accruals, attendance and activities for operations including Cold Lake, Alberta, with designated Kronos administrators and timekeepers embedded in HR and payroll workflows.
The implementation configuration centered on system administration, application support and technical support functions, with timekeepers responsible for managing Global Smart Forms to update employee data and organizational structure across multiple databases. Imperial Oil’s Timekeeper role managed and monitored the data interface, maintained data integrity, developed personnel reports, and provided recurring data analysis, positioning UKG Workforce Central Timekeeper to serve HR, Payroll and Recruitment business functions.
Operational integrations were executed through data interfaces that synchronized employee master data and org changes with Recruitment, Payroll and HR systems, and used standard office platforms such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel and SharePoint to manage documentation and communication. The Timekeeper and Kronos Administrator roles acted as subject matter experts, handling day to day support, issue resolution and cross functional coordination with Management, HR, Recruitment and Payroll stakeholders.
Governance activities included monitoring, updating and enforcing personnel administration and timekeeping policies, authoring system and user documentation, and producing functional specifications for system changes. Continuous process improvement was driven by the timekeeping team through standardized procedures, end user guides and controlled change management to preserve confidentiality and operational consistency within Imperial Oil’s Time and Attendance environment.
