In 2019, Inner City Law Center implemented PCLaw as its Legal Practice Management,Legal Time and Billing application. The deployment aligned with the nonprofit's core housing and homelessness legal services, centralizing matter intake and case workflows for a 40 person organization to increase staff efficiency and standardize client records.
The PCLaw implementation delivered core modules for client intake, conflict checking, matter-level case management, document storage and retrieval, time capture and billing, and customizable reporting. ICLC configured custom contact and case forms, used Quick Tabs and exports, and leveraged configurable data fields to support demographic tracking and funder-oriented reporting requirements.
Operationally the PCLaw platform served as a centralized searchable database that the whole team could access for notes, documents, events, and tasks, enabling continuity of work across attorneys and support staff and supporting a remote work transition in early 2020. Reporting capabilities were used to generate bespoke data sets for external funders and policy outreach, and to construct a detailed view of client populations and case outcomes.
Governance changes centered on embedding the conflict check as the first step in every matter, standardizing intake processes, and enforcing data entry standards through custom forms and exports. The organization has a documented history of scaling casework using PCLaw|Time Matters family tools, including a multi-year increase in case processing and faster, repeatable reporting for multiple funding streams.
