In 2018 Kosmos Energy implemented Oracle Cloud ERP, an ERP Financial application, as part of a consulting team to establish its core financial platform. The engagement focused on configuring system parameters, loading master and transactional data, and executing test cycles to validate module behavior and data integrity.
The implementation covered Accounts Payable and Receivable, Project Accounting, General Journals and Treasury. Work included configuring invoice and payment processing flows in Accounts Payable, receivables aging and cash application controls in Accounts Receivable, project cost capture and accounting rules in Project Accounting, and cash and bank controls in Treasury, all aligned with Oracle Cloud ERP functional patterns.
Operational scope concentrated on finance, treasury and project accounting functions within Kosmos Energy, with configuration and data loading performed to support month end journal posting and project cost tracking. Governance centered on parameter governance, data reconciliation procedures and module-level testing, using structured test cases and acceptance criteria to validate system readiness before production cutover.

In 2017, Kosmos Energy implemented IFS Field Operator (formerly P2 Field Operator) as part of a P2 Merrick suite deployment to address Field Service Management for offshore production operations. The rollout targeted production engineering and offshore operations based in Houston, Texas and the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, supporting a 24/7 on call field operator roster of 12 personnel and routine well surveillance activities.
The deployment configured Merrick modules EVIN, Field Operator, Pro Count, and Carte to capture daily well surveillance, chemical application records, flow assurance checks, and well testing procedures. Core Field Service Management workflows were established for field data capture, work ticketing, shift handovers, and asset level activity tracking to support ongoing production monitoring and operational response.
IFS Field Operator was integrated into a production data ecosystem, where a PI server was championed to replace spreadsheet based offshore data stores, and SQL with Spotfire were used to aggregate production inputs and deliver engineering dashboards. The P2 Merrick modules provided event and count data feeding regulatory deliverables, and the configuration supported preparation of BSEE submittals including semi annual well test reports and commingling packages.
Governance work included formalizing subsea operating procedures, temporary start up and well testing procedures, and aligning the solution with HAZOP reviews, MOC workflows, and Pre Start Up Safety Reviews to ensure operational and regulatory compliance. The program shifted data stewardship from ad hoc spreadsheets to centralized PI server and SQL managed sources, instituting standardized reporting and on call support processes across production engineering and operations.
Explicit outcomes reported during the implementation included realized cost savings of 600000 USD from correcting Joint Interest Billing charges not complying with the Process Handling Agreement, and multiple successful rig and platform flow backs of subsea tie back wells supported by coordinated field operations and testing workflows. The project established centralized engineering dashboards and audit ready production records using IFS Field Operator alongside PI server, SQL, and Spotfire.

In 2017, Kosmos Energy deployed TIBCO Spotfire in an Analytics and BI implementation to centralize production engineering analytics. The deployment supported Production Engineering and offshore operations in the Deepwater Gulf, consolidating production surveillance, chemical application monitoring, and flow assurance data into interactive Engineering Dashboards. TIBCO Spotfire was used to instrument data visualization and analyst workflows for daily well surveillance and production performance analysis.
Architecturally the implementation ingested production data from multiple sources using SQL queries and a PI server championed by engineering, with TIBCO Spotfire serving as the visualization layer and analytics front end. Functional capabilities implemented included Engineering Dashboards, lifting cost tracking and optimization dashboards, and multiphase flowmeter validation views to support well testing and BSEE commingling package reviews. Governance and operationalization were embedded within production engineering and offshore operator workflows, with Spotfire-driven reports used for OPEX forecasting, preparation of BSEE submittals, and quarterly production forecasting and reporting. Separately, the engineering-led initiatives documented a $600k cost saving in Joint Interest Billing as part of concurrent process, data consolidation, and analytics work.
