In 2014, Kristu Jayanti College implemented TCS iON Digital Campus. The deployment used TCS iON Digital Campus as a cloud delivered Education ERP provided by Tata Consultancy Services, aligning a single service model to the college environment that supports approximately 2800 students and core departments including Commerce, Psychology, Social Work, Life Science and Management Studies.
The implementation configured core functional modules for academic operations, including Time Table and Student Attendance, Admissions, Fee Collection and a Self Service student portal. Time Table and Student Attendance capabilities were extended with defined leave types, document proof requirements, approval workflows and eligibility logic to determine when approved leaves count toward attendance, enabling compiled attendance data to be shared with parents and guardians. Admissions was implemented as an end to end workflow from online application receipt to shortlisting and scholarship allotment, with reporting to surface seat availability and application activity, addressing the college requirement for business analytics on application actions.
On architecture and integrations, the solution was delivered as a cloud service with integrated hardware and network provisioned by Tata Consultancy Services, offering automated upgrades and resiliency through backup data centers to ensure business continuity. TCS iON Digital Campus implemented integration between fee collection and the accounting posting process so that fee transactions are automatically posted to books of account, and students can view fee transactions, start dates and due dates through the Self Service module.
Governance and operational change focused on role based access controls, an intuitive user interface for faculty and administrative staff, and standardized approval workflows to reduce data redundancy and manual reconciliation. The implemented workflows and reporting addressed the college issues around inconsistent attendance tracking, manual admission processing and lack of consolidated analytics, while enabling more timely attendance handling, streamlined admissions and automated fee management as described by the college project stakeholders.
