In 2018 Linde Germany implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform to centralize and standardize finance operations across its corporate template. The deployment positioned SAP S/4 HANA as the primary ERP Financial application for central finance functions and financial master data consolidation.
The SAP S/4 HANA implementation included a Central Finance configuration and standard S/4 finance capabilities, with emphasis on financial master data harmonization, general ledger consolidation and transactional finance processing. Implementation work reflected typical ERP Financial workflows such as unified accounting records and ledger reconciliation, and included sizing and migration planning specific to S/4 HANA.
Architecturally the program combined on premise Central Finance components with cloud migration planning, the latter described through SAP S/4 HANA sizing and migrations into the Microsoft Azure Cloud. Operational hosting and outsourced datacenter responsibilities were governed through a T-Systems data center footprint in Munich for consolidated SAP templates, and the design accounted for multiple SAP and non SAP backend system integrations.
Governance was driven by SAP technical solutions architecture and planning, with lifecycle management strategies to maintain update landscapes and ensure infrastructure, application and security compliance. The implementation scope incorporated planning for carve outs and divestments following mergers and acquisitions, supplier and vendor management in an outsourced datacenter, and hyper care support during rollouts.

In 2013, Linde Germany implemented SAP HCM (HR) as its Core HR system to centralize employee master data and standardize HR processes across its German operations. The deployment placed SAP HCM (HR) at the center of Human Resources functions, establishing a clear Company Application Category Business Function relationship between Linde Germany, SAP HCM (HR), Core HR and HR operations.
Configuration work emphasized Core HR capabilities typical for SAP HCM (HR), including personnel administration, organizational management, time management fundamentals, and employee self-service and manager self-service workflows. The implementation used standard SAP HCM modules to model organizational structures, position management, absence and leave administration, and workflow-driven approvals, with configuration focused on aligning master data and HR process automation.
Operational governance for SAP HCM (HR) was structured through an SAP HR competence center and a global SAP HR team, with a Service Manager for SAP HR Germany responsible for local delivery and ongoing support. Governance and rollout practices emphasized centralized configuration control, role-based access provisioning, and staged change management under the competence center, aligning system operations with HR process owners and centralized SAP HR stewardship.

In 2016 Linde Germany deployed SAP BusinessObjects as a core component of its Analytics and BI stack. The implementation was embedded in a global Analytics agenda that supported bulk and cylinder gases logistics, sales applications, Healthcare business applications, and Global Support Functions including Procurement and Corporate Communications.
SAP BusinessObjects served as the centralized platform for reporting, dashboarding, semantic layer services, and ad-hoc analysis across the Analytics and BI environment. The SAP BusinessObjects deployment was positioned to deliver scheduled reporting, interactive dashboards, and governed BI content to operational teams responsible for e-commerce, workflow for shared service centers, web content management, SHEQ, sales, procurement, and gas supply operations.
The implementation coexisted and integrated with Linde’s broader application portfolio, including Salesforce and Tableau as noted in the environment, and operated alongside .NET, J2E, IBM WebSphere and IBM Commerce technologies. SAP BusinessObjects was used within a heterogeneous application architecture to consolidate analytics outputs from SAP and non-SAP sources and to provide a unified BI layer for downstream consumption by sales, healthcare IT, logistics and global support functions.
Governance and operational ownership were run through Linde’s global applications organization, with accountable responsibilities for design, development, deployment and support of the full application lifecycle. The program was managed by a global applications leadership team that oversaw roughly 250 internal staff plus approximately 250 external resources, and included vendor management for analytics tools while aligning SAP BusinessObjects with Tableau and Salesforce as part of the company’s Analytics and BI tooling portfolio.
