In 2018, Link Group upgraded its Oracle PeopleSoft ERP from PeopleSoft 9.1 FMS to PeopleSoft 9.2 FMS as a targeted ERP Financial initiative supporting its Australian Administration Services business unit. The program focused on financial operations for AAS, which employs over 2,000 professionals in Australia and administers an underlying stakeholder base of approximately 10 million superannuation account holders, positioning the upgrade as a core finance and administration modernization effort within Link Group.
The implementation covered core financial modules including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, Purchasing, and Assets Management, with a concurrent PeopleTools upgrade to 8.56. The project delivered configuration of the new functionality introduced in PeopleSoft 9.2, unit testing of customizations, system integration testing, and formal user acceptance testing, and included development and delivery of training material to support operational adoption.
Operational and integration workstreams included archiving transactional data to history files to reduce production load, maintaining all existing PeopleSoft interfaces, and supporting the implementation of new legal entities in both Australia and New Zealand. The program also scoped troubleshooting processes to provide fixes or workarounds for post upgrade issues, and ongoing assistance for any new or additional functionality demanded by the business.
Project governance used a blended delivery team model with shared responsibilities between Link Group and the engaged PeopleSoft technology partner IBT, aimed at controlling delivery costs while retaining BAU continuity. BAU deliverables included maintaining and updating existing documentation, ongoing unit testing of customizations as business requirements evolved, and structured user training to stabilize finance and operations teams.
IBT was recommissioned to provide ongoing support for Link Group as its business expanded, providing long term PeopleSoft application support and operational maintenance for the Oracle PeopleSoft ERP environment. The sustained support arrangement covered application maintenance, interface stewardship, documentation updates, and user training for the ERP Financial environment.
