SAP BW and SAP Enterprise Portal were upgraded as part of the initiative to preserve reporting and portal services alongside the ERP Financial core. The technical migration and deployment architecture combined OS and database transformation with SAP upgrade activities, migrating database platforms from Oracle 8.1.7 and 10g to Oracle 11g and performing an Oracle 12c remediation for logical block corruption using data pump. The project executed OS and Unicode conversion moving from Solaris SPARC 10 to Linux SLES 11, applied offline database compression using SAPINST tools, and validated a Proof of Concept for conversion to SAP S/4 HANA using the Data Base Migration Option DMO. The team targeted minimized downtime using NZDT method and third party SAP tools such as SNP T-BONE to orchestrate near zero downtime technical cutovers. Operational scope included end to end data center migration and a disaster recovery center implementation incorporating VEAAM Backup solution and OpenText for archiving to retain document lifecycle and compliance capabilities. Integrations preserved SAP BW reporting and Enterprise Portal linkages to transactional data, and archiving integration with OpenText was used to manage retained records for the ERP Financial estate. Governance emphasized minimizing downtime as a KPI and sequenced upgrades to limit business interruption, combining SAP upgrades from older 4.7 releases through ECC 6 EHP7 with parallel OS DB migrations. The rollout approach included technical readiness checks, DMO readiness validation and targeted remediation activities such as database compression and corruption fixes, enabling the organization to move its ERP Financial footprint onto SAP S/4 HANA while preserving HCM, procurement approval flows and archival continuity.
