In 2007, Metropolitan Electricity Authority implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as an ERP Financial application to establish a financial backbone aligned with the authority’s utility operations. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment was positioned to consolidate transaction processing and financial management while interfacing with operational mapping and asset management systems used across the distribution footprint.
The implementation configured SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as the ERP Financial system supporting core financial workflows and serving as an authoritative store for transactional and asset-related financial data. Configuration emphasized integration points rather than bespoke ERP modules, enabling financial records to reflect field-collected asset attributes and service activities, and providing financial teams with application-level access to operational data for budgeting and chargeback processes.
Integration architecture connected the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 environment with a GIS/AM/FM operation system developed under a CDG Group program, a Windows and Web Application layer, and the GIS Net web service. The GIS/AM/FM system contains orthophoto data, 1 to 1000 resolution basemaps and field survey information covering Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samutprakarn, and these spatial data flows into the ERP environment to align asset registers with financial records. The MEA also upgraded communications with fiber optics for the Department of Communications and Computer Operation and the Geographic Information Division, and the integrated stack supports a public-facing call center and basemap commercial services.
Governance and operational rollout included installation in several Strong Rooms in Thailand, alignment of the Geographic Information Division and operations teams around a unified data model, and the establishment of a call center to channel public inquiries into the integrated systems. The integrated SAP ERP ECC 6.0 ERP Financial and GIS solution ran in production for day-to-day MEA operation for more than 15 years, won national recognition for service and data management, and contributed to measurable operational improvements including an SLA contact time reduction from more than half a day to an average of 10 to 15 minutes.

In 2020, Metropolitan Electricity Authority implemented Oracle Utilities Analytics as part of an Analytics and BI initiative, with core project activity concentrated between July 2020 and October 2020. The deployment targeted MEA Thailand and focused on delivering a customized analytics layer to support enterprise reporting and operational analytics.
Implementation work produced detailed design and test documentation for the customized analytics and mapped business process configuration settings to the Oracle Utilities Analytics Data Warehouse and model designs. The Oracle Utilities Analytics implementation included data model configuration, report and dashboard specification, and analytics test cases aligned to the mapped business processes.
Data replication and ETL were executed using Oracle GoldenGate for replication and Oracle Data Integrator for transformation pipelines, with explicit tuning of data extraction and transformation to accommodate data heavy transactions. Architectural work emphasized feeding the OUA Data Warehouse from transactional source systems via replication and batch ETL pipelines, and performance tuning focused on transformation throughput and stability.
Governance centered on configuration alignment and test artifacts to validate model mappings and transformation logic prior to production cutover. Documentation, model governance and targeted performance tuning were used as the primary controls during the July 2020 to October 2020 rollout of Oracle Utilities Analytics.
