In 2018, Minor Hotels initiated an implementation of Oracle E-Business Suite as part of a program to move mission-critical applications to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Minor Hotels is an international hotel owner and operator with 535 hotels in 55 countries and 75,000 employees, and it designated Oracle E-Business Suite as its ERP Financial platform to support group financials, purchasing, and procurement.
The implementation focused on Oracle E-Business Suite modules for core financial management, accounts payable and receivable, purchasing, and procurement, integrated alongside Oracle Hyperion for planning and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition for reporting. Lifecycle operations were instrumented with E-Business Suite Cloud Manager and automation was applied via Oracle Resource Manager, while Oracle Database Cloud Service on bare metal provided database platform performance and operational isolation.
Production and continuity architecture placed Oracle E-Business Suite in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Tokyo region with Seoul as the secondary site, and positioned Hyperion and OBIEE primarily in Seoul with Tokyo as the secondary site. Oracle Data Guard provided replication and failover capabilities to enforce recovery objectives, and the overall design leveraged OCI platform services to consolidate application hosting, database PaaS, and infrastructure.
Governance and operational process changes concentrated on business continuity and data security to meet GDPR requirements, with run books and Cloud Manager driven workflows standardizing patching, backup, and failover procedures across regions. Recovery point objective and recovery time objective targets were embedded in operational policies and automated replication configurations.
Minor Hotels achieved stated outcomes including reduction of RPO and RTO from 24 hours to 2 hours and a GDPR aligned business continuity posture. The deployment also delivered increased automation, improved database performance on bare metal, and greater contractual flexibility through Oracle Universal Cloud Credits and license mobility.
