Deployment architecture combines on prem SAP S/4 HANA systems and bolt on SAP applications hosted on a major cloud IaaS platform with AWS infrastructure referenced for cloud services and hosting considerations. Configuration work focused on absence plans, accrual and eligibility rules, defined absence types and leave workflows, time off request and approval routing, and links between Absence Management, Time Tracking, and Workday Payroll for consistent payroll and compliance handling.
Integrations were explicitly addressed, with Workday Absence Management interfacing into broader enterprise systems including SAP, Agiloft, Concur, ServiceNow HRSD, IBM Tririga, Everbridge, TimeTap, 15Five, Fieldglass, and Boomi integration solutions. The implementation formed part of a global optimization program to support Moderna’s international expansion, and the Absence and Leave Management capabilities were integrated into cross functional HR and digital processes to improve operational coverage across regions.
Governance and operational support were structured through integrated digital governance and a dedicated team of systems engineers who manage routine platform upgrades, enhancements, and ongoing operational support. The program emphasized configuration governance, release cadence alignment with Workday upgrades, and continuous improvement processes driven by HR leadership engagement.
