In 2017 Molina Healthcare implemented Oracle Cloud HCM Absence Management, deploying Oracle Cloud HCM Absence Management as its Absence and Leave Management solution to govern absence administration across HR and payroll functions. The engagement targeted enterprise HCM configuration to support absence plans, accruals, leave categories and manager and employee self service workflows within Molina Healthcare’s global HR environment.
The implementation included detailed configuration of accrual and qualification absence plans, creation of absence types with duration restrictions, and setup of medical and personal leave categories for HR and payroll reporting. Enterprise and workforce structures were established, employment models were configured for single and multiple assignments, and tree hierarchies were defined for reporting and security. Custom workflow routing rules were created to control manager self service and employee self service approvals and notifications, and E Text and RTF templates were prepared for Absence, Core HR and Talent reporting.
Integrations were explicitly configured between Absence Management and payroll systems, Oracle Time and Labor, and workforce scheduling to ensure absence events fed downstream payroll and scheduling processes. HCM Extracts were developed for Global HR, Absence and Talent modules, and candidate data flows from Taleo Recruiting into Fusion HCM were supported for recruiting and onboarding continuity. Data loading and conversions used HCM Data Loader to import workforce structure, worker records, work relationships and salary information.
Governance and rollout followed formal business process workshops and conference room pilots to capture requirements, with business requirements documentation and sign off to ensure alignment. QA coordination and comprehensive test case coverage were part of the program, along with starter tasks such as creating implementation users, managing data roles, loading geographies and maintaining enterprise structure. The project also included checklist driven onboarding tasks, UI personalizations for end users, and coordination with Oracle for service requests and product updates.

The team deployed the application to Azure Cloud Services and configured runbooks to execute UNIX scripts and Informatica ETL workflows, reflecting existing automation patterns in the environment. Configuration also incorporated job definitions to invoke Spark and Python processes in Hadoop and EMR contexts for large scale data processing.

AppWorx was configured to coordinate with existing Automic UC4 scheduler instances and UNIX script automation to avoid operational gaps during rollout. Rollout and handoff procedures reflected sustained operations between September 2015 and December 2017, with runbook documentation, source to target mappings and scheduling specifications maintained as part of operational governance.
