In 2019, Mondi Group designated Aptean API PRO EAM (ex Optiware) as its group Enterprise Asset Management standard, building on a plant-level implementation that began at Mondi Neusiedler in Austria in 2002. The Aptean API PRO EAM deployment is implemented across more than 15 Mondi production sites worldwide and is fully integrated to the SAP ERP-system to align maintenance and production data flows, an approach chosen to ensure strong synergies between production and maintenance. The implementation emphasized core Enterprise Asset Management capabilities, including asset master data and equipment hierarchies, preventive maintenance scheduling, electronic work order management, and spare parts and inventory control. Configuration work focused on standardizing maintenance workflows, enabling planned maintenance cycles, and establishing an enterprise asset register to support maintenance planning and execution. Integration architecture centers on the full integration to the SAP ERP-system, with interfaces synchronizing equipment and material masters, maintenance orders and notifications, and transactional parts consumption to support end-to-end processes between production and maintenance. These integration points were used to keep asset records and maintenance execution aligned with production orders and materials planning in SAP, reducing the need for manual reconciliation between systems. Rollout governance followed a group decision model where Mondi standardized on API PRO as the group EAM and then progressively provisioned the application to additional plants, retaining localized configuration control against a centralized baseline. Operational scope covered maintenance and production functions at plant level, with governance processes to manage master data, change control, and cross-site standardization, creating a coordinated operational platform between maintenance and production.
