Workday Legacy Workday Financial Management ERP Financial ERP Kainos 2021 2022
In 2021, Nasdaq implemented Workday Financial Management as its ERP Financial platform, using Workday Extend and Workday Orchestrate to centralize financial master data and operational workflows. Kainos served as the implementation partner for the rollout, which targeted finance first while enabling parallel app development for IT and human resources teams. The implementation produced seven bespoke Workday Extend applications within nine months, focused on cost center and account operations and a master data management construct. Key functional capabilities include a Cost Center app for managing operational data, request flows for Create New Request, Requesting an Organizational Move, Move Organization Level Request, Change Properties for a Cost Center, and Changing the Approver for Mass Changes, with drop-down driven UIs to reduce user error. Workday Orchestrate was used to model and automate complex workflows, enabling interoperability between Workday and Nasdaq external systems that act as master data repositories. Workday Financial Management becomes the centralized single source of truth and uses the same Workday login and security controls for the newly developed apps, maintaining unified authentication and access management across finance and HCM scopes. Governance was formalized through structured approval processes and full audit trails for metadata requests and data changes, capturing who requested changes, what was requested, when requests were made, and who approved them. Those audit capabilities were explicitly used to simplify evidence collection for Sarbanes Oxley requirements and to enforce standardized business processes across impacted finance functions. Nasdaq reported increased automation and higher user productivity from the consolidated Workday experience, and it cited significant cost savings and reduced infrastructure cost as outcomes of centralizing these finance workflows inside Workday Financial Management. The company plans further extension of Workday Extend into additional HCM and microservice use cases to continue standardizing and automating cross-functional processes.

Workday Legacy Workday Absence Management Absence and Leave Management HCM Kainos 2017 2018
In 2017 Nasdaq implemented Workday Absence Management as part of a broader Workday HCM deployment. The Workday Absence Management deployment is classified under the Absence and Leave Management category and was delivered alongside Core HCM, Compensation, Time Tracking, Recruitment, Talent and Performance modules and enterprise reporting. Configuration work focused on absence and leave lifecycle management, including Vacation, statutory leaves and other leave of absence types, business process orchestration, notifications and condition rules. The implementation included validation rules, calculated fields and role assignments, creation of security groups and domain and business process level security policies, and application of role based contextual security for personalized access. Integrations were executed using date level integrations through API, SFTP and browser based field uploads, Workday Studio based transformations and Cloud Connector feeds for third party payrolls. The program included Workday Report Writer and Workday Studio BIRT reporting, development of data transformation pipelines, cross visualization and drill into time dimensions on an in memory high performance analytics engine, and connectors to third party background checking and vendor services. Delivery and governance included unit testing, integration testing, end to end testing with third party vendors, system integration testing and user acceptance testing, with issues tracked in HP ALM QC and change requests documented under standard change management processes. Kainos served as the systems integrator on the program, and ongoing BAU support covered technical ticket handling, monitoring of business processes and maintenance of custom reports and security configurations.
