In 2018 Nib Health Funds implemented Infor SunSystems as its ERP Financial platform to centralize finance operations for its travel insurance business and group finance activities. Infor SunSystems was deployed to support core accounts receivable processes and partner-facing financial workflows used by the Group Accounts Payable team in Sydney.
The implementation emphasized accounts receivable ledger configuration, end to end debtor management, partner and affiliate master data setup, invoice and statement batching, commission and override calculation, policy refunds, incentive payment processing and internal aged debtor reporting. Functional configuration included cash allocation capabilities and foreign exchange handling to process receipts received via Direct Debit, EFT and cheque, aligning with the responsibilities described for the Accounts Receivable Officer role.
SunSystems was configured to operate alongside the partner console to ensure agent and affiliate records were provisioned in both the finance ledger and the partner portal, supporting monthly agent and affiliate invoice and statement batching. Operational coverage concentrated on the travel insurance business, agent and affiliate billing, and commission payment flows, with transactional workflows mapped into the ERP Financial system for accounting and collections.
Governance and workflow changes introduced with the deployment included structured monthly batching of invoices and statements, approval controls for commission and refund payments, and routine internal reporting and monitoring of aged debtors. These process controls were implemented to formalize end to end debtor management, collection allocation, and commission payment workflows under the oversight of the Group Accounts Payable Manager.

The deployment used AWS Lex within the Apps Category Chatbots and Conversational AI to automate conversational intake and reduce call and chat volume handled by human agents.
The project delivered a proof of concept in 4 to 6 weeks with DiUS Australia supporting development and implementation, and the solution was provisioned on Amazon Web Services infrastructure. Functional capabilities implemented include natural language understanding for intent classification, multi turn dialog management, slot collection for policy and claims details, automated responses for common enquiries, and escalation pathways to live agents when required.
Operational coverage focused on customer service for nib members across digital chat channels and contact routing workflows, with nibby handling about 65 percent of chat queries, roughly 15,000 chats per month according to the AWS case study. Governance centered on centralized intent and response models, iterative refinement based on live chat transcripts, and integration of the chatbot into existing contact center workflows to increase automation and reduce agent load.
