Nordstrom Technographics, Software Purchases, AI and Digital Transformation Initiatives
Discover the latest software purchases and digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by Nordstrom and its business and technology executives. Each quarter our research team identifies on-prem and cloud applications that are being used by the 55000 Nordstrom employees from the public (Press Releases, Customer References, Testimonials, Case Studies and Success Stories) and proprietary sources.
During our research, we have identified that Nordstrom has purchased the following applications: Kofax MarkView for AP Automation in 2014, UKG Workforce Central Absence Manager (ex Kronos Workforce Absence Manager) for Absence and Leave Management in 2013, Oracle Retail Merchandising System for Retail Management in 2008 and the related IT decision-makers and key stakeholders.
Our database provides customer insight and contextual information on which enterprise applications and software systems Nordstrom is running and its propensity to invest more and deepen its relationship with Tungsten Automation , Oracle , SAP or identify new suppliers as part of their overall Digital and IT transformation projects to stay competitive, fend off threats from disruptive forces, or comply with internal mandates to improve overall enterprise efficiency.
We have been analyzing Nordstrom revenues, which have grown to $14.69 billion in 2024, plus its IT budget and roadmap, cloud software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions for Nordstrom intention to invest in emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database or in cloud-based ERP, HCM, CRM, EPM, Procurement or Treasury applications.

| Tungsten Automation | Legacy | Kofax MarkView | AP Automation | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2014 | 2014 |
In 2014, Nordstrom implemented Kofax MarkView to standardize accounts payable processing under an AP Automation initiative. The deployment focused on invoice intake and expense invoice handling and positioned Kofax MarkView as the core AP Automation application for accounts payable and expense processing across corporate finance and store-level purchasing workflows.
Kofax MarkView was configured to deliver invoice capture and OCR extraction, automated data validation and matching, electronic approval workflow routing, exception management, and a centralized document repository for audit and compliance. Configuration emphasized workflow orchestration and process rules to route invoices through approval chains and to escalate exceptions for manual review, reflecting standard AP Automation functional modules.
The implementation integrated Kofax MarkView with Concur Expense Solutions for expense invoice processing, and engagement with vendor Tungsten Automation supported provisioning and operational handover. Operational coverage included corporate accounts payable teams and operational areas that manage shipping, receiving, and store fulfillment where invoices and expense claims originate, and governance changes centered on centralized invoice processing, standardized approval workflows, and archival controls to support invoice lifecycle management.

| UKG | Legacy | UKG Workforce Central Absence Manager (ex Kronos Workforce Absence Manager) | Absence and Leave Management | HCM | n/a | 2013 | 2013 |
In 2013, Nordstrom upgraded and deployed UKG Workforce Central Absence Manager (ex Kronos Workforce Absence Manager) to strengthen Absence and Leave Management across its hourly workforce, expanding the Kronos WFC footprint to include the retailer's consumer division and moving to Kronos WFC v6.2 with subsequent redeployments to v7.0. The implementation centralized time collection and clock inventory for hourly employees, and placed absence and leave tracking into a single Absence and Leave Management application that interfaced with payroll and HR feeds.
Configuration work covered core Workforce Central modules including Workforce Timekeeper, Workforce Scheduler, Workforce Accruals, Workforce Scheduling and Workforce Advanced Scheduling, Workforce Analytics, Activities, and Workforce Absence Manager. Teams analyzed and documented business needs, work and pay policies, configured leave of absence reasons, eligibility, document requirements and leave rules driven by HR practices, and implemented both basic and advanced accruals and scheduling rules within the Workforce Central suite. Custom reports were developed and deployed to support the Workforce Timekeeper and scheduling operations.
Integration and technical architecture centered on Workforce Integration Manager, using WIM 6.3 and later WIM 7.0 interface designers to develop, test and deploy complex interfaces and calculations. Kronos Connect payroll interfaces and reporting were developed to deliver rates, specialty pay items and memo accrual balances into ADP PCPW payroll, and the implementation included coordination with internal Kronos and UltiPro conversion teams to validate and deliver workforce management data. Relational databases such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL were used for data collection, database creation and ongoing data review to support interfaces and reporting.
Governance and operationalization included writing specifications, formal testing cycles, and troubleshooting across Kronos Core components, WIM, Navigator and workflow notifications. The program established Kronos Clock Inventory policies and procedures, resolved Workforce Timekeeper pay rule and configuration issues, and managed rollout activities related to time and attendance, leave, accruals and scheduling. The UKG Workforce Central Absence Manager implementation was executed with detailed requirements analysis, iterative development and targeted deployment to align system behavior with Nordstrom payroll and HR processing needs.

In 2008, Nordstrom implemented Oracle Retail Merchandising System, engaging Infosys as the systems integrator to provision core retail merchandising capabilities within the Retail Management category. The deployment established a centralized merchandising platform for product master data and assortment management using Oracle Retail Merchandising System alongside Enterprise Product Management.
Operational workstreams include hands on maintenance and data fidelity activities across RMS 9 and RMS 14, with practitioners performing audits using SQL queries to validate and correct product information. Product table corrections are written and appended through a combination of Excel, SharePoint, and Oracle Applications, reflecting a mixed toolchain for bulk data remediation and record level updates.
Integrations and operational coverage center on the connection between the Oracle Retail Merchandising System, underlying SQL data stores, and collaboration tooling such as SharePoint and Excel for data staging. Day to day use is embedded in merchandising and buying workflows, with Merchandise Analysts and buying offices engaged to identify setup procedures and operational issues across Nordstrom sites, with documented activity spanning Seattle, WA from May 2018 to present.
Governance and change activities emphasize process documentation and enablement, with staff developing job aids and scripts to support independent training and onboarding. Teams also used pivot tables to analyze and display daily employee numbers for a 150 person cohort, demonstrating procedural tooling for operational reporting and training continuity within the Oracle Retail Merchandising System environment.
