In 2019, Ooba implemented Oracle Cloud ERP to migrate core finance and HR systems to Oracle cloud. Ooba implemented Oracle Cloud ERP ERP Financial to support Financial and Human Resources business functions for the South African mortgage and insurance intermediary, moving the majority of its longstanding on-premises Oracle applications into a cloud-hosted architecture while retaining payroll on-premises due to required localisation.
The deployment focused on four primary application areas, Financial, Human Resources Management, Absence and Learning. Implementation work included mapping and replicating end-to-end business processes in the cloud, reconciling differences between Ooba customisations and out-of-the-box cloud functionality, and configuring role definitions, security controls and policy enforcement to align with existing governance.
Integration work addressed the coexistence of cloud services with the on-premises payroll system, requiring a bespoke interface to automate and accurately transfer payroll-related data. Data migration was executed as two parallel streams, Master Data and Transactional Data, for both Financials and HCM, following Oracle recommended methodology to minimize risk and avoid downtime during cutover.
Operational scope encompassed finance and human capital management teams and extended the learning environment to a broader set of ecosystem stakeholders. Governance activities emphasized role-based access, security policy implementation and cross-departmental planning to ensure process continuity across the Financial and HCM functions under the Oracle Cloud ERP deployment.

| Oracle | Legacy | Oracle Cloud HCM | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2019 | 2020 |
In 2019, ooba implemented Oracle Cloud HCM to centralize Core HR functions for its 375 employees in the South African insurance and home loan services business. The implementation was positioned as a cloud-enabled, people-first initiative to preserve business continuity and ensure remote access to crucial HR systems during rapidly changing operating conditions.
Oracle Cloud HCM was configured to support employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding through exit, and to deliver on-demand e-learning modules and general workflow guidance. Functional capabilities emphasized self-service employee access, learning management content for on-demand training, and workforce analytics to provide a consistent employee experience that created greater transparency and security for staff.
The deployment unified employee-facing technology with ooba’s consumer-facing systems to close functional gaps between customer and HR workflows, and it provided continuous remote access for dispersed staff. The cloud-enabled platform leveraged Oracle Cloud HCM capabilities to surface employee data and analytics for use in addressing absenteeism, identifying at-risk employees, and informing succession planning across the organisation.
Governance and operational practices were adjusted to emphasize consistent HR workflows and an integrated employee experience, with Human Capital leadership citing the platform as central to supporting staff safety, health and morale. The implementation prioritized providing uninterrupted access to HR services for remote workers, enabling on-demand learning and consistent HR processes without specifying vendor integrations or cost outcomes.
