In 2017 Outokumpu implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as its Core HR platform, replacing SAP HCM (HR). The implementation targeted global HR operations and was organized to support the HR Controlling team and Global HR Network across multiple countries.
The deployment centered on the Employee Central module of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central with configuration work covering position management, organization structure front office activities, bulk employee data imports, and ad-hoc report creation. Program responsibilities included change request management, quarterly release coordination, RPB activities, and formalized test management and training ownership under an EC Training Manager role.
Integration architecture for the rollout included 26 interfaces connecting various HR and payroll systems, supporting six countries that used multiple payroll vendors, and required coordination with an implementation partner company and third party interface owners. Testing and cutover activities were extensive, with dedicated test planning, test data creation for EC and interfaces, defect logging and follow up, and an EC Super User operating in the test environment.
Project governance was conducted through close collaboration between the IT Project Manager and HR Project Manager, with project coordination covering scheduling, rollout planning, new project intake and build efforts. Operational scope emphasized cross‑functional orchestration between IT and HR, integration project management, and ongoing support workflows for Employee Central.

In 2016, Outokumpu implemented IBM Maximo as its Enterprise Asset Management solution, deploying IBM Maximo Asset Management to strengthen maintenance operations at the Avesta Järnverk foundry. The project was delivered by Enfo Service & Asset Management under the Hela vägen till värde concept, a program designed to apply business process analysis and best practices across the organisation. This implementation positioned Outokumpu IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management to support company maintenance and production priorities.
The technical and functional focus centered on formalizing maintenance processes, expanding preventive maintenance capabilities, and improving the efficiency of design and manufacturing workflows covering materials, tools and personnel resources. IBM Maximo Asset Management was configured to serve as the primary maintenance management system, with process rationalization and role clarity introduced to reduce production errors and increase equipment utilization. Training for directors and broad employee training were integral to the configuration and adoption effort, reinforcing new ways of working and standardized procedures.
Integrations included a near production ready key indicator application that was developed to feed QlikView and be connected to the IBM Maximo Asset Management maintenance system, enabling analysis and decision support. Enfo developed the system-supporting components and analytics, applying expertise in maintenance and systems to deliver data flows between Maximo and the QlikView reporting layer. The integration architecture emphasized operational reporting and quality related key indicators to monitor data quality and support targeted interventions.
Governance and process transformation were formalized through a systematic review of maintenance questions, clearer process definitions and more clearly divided areas of responsibility. Management made the initiative a first priority, and the rollout used both internal and external resources to embed best practices across the organisation. Enfo’s Hela vägen till värde concept guided the project lifecycle from analysis through training and process adoption, producing a standardized governance model for ongoing maintenance improvement.
Reported outcomes included fewer production errors, improved production efficiency and better use of machinery at lower cost, with project stakeholders noting visible operational improvements even though comprehensive measurement was still pending. Cooperation between Outokumpu and Enfo is expected to continue into additional development areas, with the combined IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management and QlikView key indicator integration forming the foundation for further preventive maintenance and quality monitoring initiatives.

In 2016, Outokumpu implemented QlikView in Analytics and BI to support maintenance driven production optimization at the Avesta Järnverk foundry. The initiative was executed with Enfo using the Hela vägen till värde concept, and the scope prioritized maintenance processes, rationalization of production resources, and improving the efficiency of design and manufacturing workflows.
Enfo and Outokumpu developed a key indicator application to run in QlikView that centralizes quality related metrics and supports decision making. The deployment emphasized maintenance analytics, preventive maintenance planning, and data quality monitoring as core functional capabilities, framing QlikView as the primary Analytics and BI layer for operational performance insights.
The QlikView implementation was integrated with the IBM MAXIMO Asset Management maintenance system to ingest asset, work order and maintenance data into dashboards and analyses. System supporting components were tailored by Enfo Service & Asset Management, combining analysis, maintenance domain expertise and process knowledge to align materials, tools and personnel data into the analytics solution.
Governance and rollout included management level training, a companywide shift to standardized processes and employee training on the new way of working. Outokumpu reported fewer production errors, more effective use of machinery at lower cost and evolved design and manufacturing processes, and it plans continued cooperation with Enfo to expand preventive maintenance and further analytics capabilities.
