Operational integration centered on linking invoice processing to procurement workflows and supplier onboarding through the supplier information portal, while Single Sign-On provided centralized identity access for global users. The AP Automation deployment was rolled out across procurement and finance functions to create end-to-end information flow from requisition to invoice, improving visibility for category managers and risk teams.
Governance and rollout emphasized compliance and process standardization, with payment and contract data surfaced in Coupa Analytics to support decision making. Outcomes reported by Pearson include transferring £300 million of spend into the Coupa platform within six months, a 63% increase in compliance, 24 hours or less from purchase requisition to purchase order, and more than 87% of users rating Coupa better or significantly better than prior applications.

Rollout work included creation of a change toolkit and local enablement to support HRSSC global core HR processes, and iterative configuration and testing in Agile sprints to accommodate country-specific payroll and absence rules.
Integrations were explicit and multi-system, Oracle Fusion Employee and Manager Self Service was instrumented on ServiceNow for case and request handling, global payroll implementations referenced Oracle Fusion as the source of employee data, and the finance transformation used Oracle Hyperion Planning EPM for standardized forecasting and planning templates. Enhancements to the employee expense stack included Oracle iExpense changes affecting c.30,000 users, and Source to Pay work scoped supplier onboarding and accounts payable simplification to align procurement flows with the new HR and payroll data feeds.
Governance and organizational change were led through a centralized change lead function, with a documented change impact assessment method used to capture local impacts and to scope change requests. The change lead role continued through September 2017 to January 2020 and focused on stakeholder engagement, communications, and learning interventions to operationalize global processes and stabilize finance and HR business workflows.
