In 2012, Pemex implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as a centralized finance platform across Pemex, its agencies and subsidiaries. The deployment targeted the ERP Financial category and was delivered with Accenture as the system integrator.
The implementation concentrated on the SAP Financials Fixed Assets domain, specifically the SAP FI-AA sub-module. Workstreams included documenting As-Is fixed asset processes, producing Business Blue Prints, applying International Financial Reporting Standards IAS 16, IAS 36, IAS 37, and IAS 38 to fixed asset accounting, and developing unit test scenarios for Fixed Asset processes.
Process mapping and narrative layout used the ARIS tool, while system configuration and solution documentation were managed in SAP Solution Manager, including configuration of the Fixed Assets sub-module in SOLMAN. The program produced functional specifications, a Fixed Assets sub-module configuration guide, and SOLMAN documentation to support governance and ongoing maintenance of SAP ERP ECC 6.0.
This activity was executed under the Process Management System Initiative Finance project to standardize and systematize finance processes in compliance with Government Regulations and IFRS. SAP FI and FI-AA consultants were assigned to the engagement, with consultant participation documented from May 2011 to June 2012.

The implementation integrated with Pemex corporate systems, explicitly including the ERP system SAP and the Process Information Management System OSIsoft PI, to enable immediate publication of authorized test results to plant technicians, corporate users, and downstream stakeholders. The architecture emphasized real-time access to laboratory information, secure role-based data sharing across processing sites, and monitoring of safety and quality metrics across the supply chain.
Governance and process restructuring accompanied the rollout, standardizing SOPs and harmonizing analytical methods, units of measure, and reporting formats across facilities to meet stricter regulatory requirements issued by the Mexican Energy Regulatory Commission and international standards. The project scope covered laboratory operations across Pemex processing sites and refineries, aligning lab workflows with corporate quality and compliance functions.
As reported, the Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS implementation delivered data integrity, process improvement, operational harmonization, and industry compliance for Pemex, enabling more reliable laboratory information flow and improved operational efficiency across its Laboratory Management environment.
