Oracle Legacy Oracle E-Business Suite - Production Scheduling Advanced Planning and Scheduling SCM n/a 2022 2022
In 2022, Polycab implemented Oracle E-Business Suite - Production Scheduling to centralize production planning and shop floor scheduling, deploying the Advanced Planning and Scheduling application to align manufacturing planning with new plant initiatives. The Oracle E-Business Suite - Production Scheduling implementation was positioned to support planning for business units including Railway, Defence, Electrical vehicle and charging infrastructure, and Automotive, and to provide standardized scheduling inputs across the organization. Functional implementation focused on production scheduling capabilities together with configuration and functional development of Oracle production, PPC and Purchase modules, and included bill of material standardization and an online costing module for dealers and a product selection guide embedded in planning workflows. Workstreams covered scheduling rule setup, capacity planning inputs for machines and manpower, production order orchestration and configuration of planning parameters to coordinate procurement and execution planning. The program integrated an MES system with Oracle to close the loop between scheduling and shop floor execution, enabling real time feedback into production schedules. Operational coverage extended across 11 units and a greenfield plant initiative, supported by a core team of more than 52 employees and a plant budget referenced at 120 Cr to govern rollout and operational readiness. Governance work formalized product and bill of material standards across 11 units, introduced vendor development and online costing workflows, and built planning governance with dedicated operations ownership. Project records note explicit operational outcomes, including a 35% increase in capacity on modified machines, a 50% reduction in downtime in a new plant scenario, and reported annual final product savings of 1.5 to 2 Cr per annum.
