In 2013 Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory implemented Sage Business Cloud X3 (ex Sage ERP X3) to address ERP Financial requirements for core accounting and transactional processing. The engagement included building Sage ERP X3 web services intended to be consumed by an ASP.NET web application and by reporting layers, with deployment to lab servers and end users and user training delivered as part of the rollout.
Implementation work centered on server side data architecture and service instrumentation. The team created the main SQL Server 2008 R2 database, tables, stored procedures, and views, and wrote service-side SQL queries to support transactional and reporting needs. Development used Visual Studio 2012 and ASP.NET, applying LINQ to SQL for data binding, ADO.NET for database operations including DataAdapter, DataSet, and DataReader, and Entity Framework Code First for data modeling.
Integration work delivered SOAP or REST style Sage ERP X3 web services consumed by an ASP.NET front end and reporting tools, and relied on SQL Server as the system of record. The front end used DevExpress components such as Data Grid, Grid View, Data Editors, Menu, Navigation Bar, Form Layout, and Document Viewer to surface ledger entries, transactional forms, and document output. Functional coverage targeted financial management workflows typical for ERP Financial systems, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processing.
Governance and rollout emphasized application-level service contracts and operational handover, with developers responsible for service creation, database schema deployment, and publishing the sale software to servers and users. User training accompanied the go live to embed new workflows and reporting access patterns within the laboratory finance organization.

In 2017, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory implemented Google Workspace (Formerly Google G-Suite) as its Collaboration platform. The deployment centralized core collaboration modules such as Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides, together with the Google Workspace administration console for account provisioning and policy management, to support day-to-day communication and document co-authoring.
Operational governance leverages Google Workspace administrative controls including Google Groups, role-based access, and device management to manage user accounts and secure access across research, administrative, and communications teams. The presence of Google Workspace (Formerly Google G-Suite) is publicly visible on the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory website, and the application serves as the Collaboration foundation for email, calendaring, shared storage and collaborative document workflows across the laboratory.

In 2020, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory deployed Acquia Cloud to host and operate its public website. Acquia Cloud serves as the laboratory's Web Content Management platform, providing a cloud-hosted environment for content authoring and publishing across pppl.gov.
The Acquia Cloud implementation centers on hosted content management capabilities typical of the Web Content Management category, including web content authoring, role based access controls, staged publishing workflows, and separated staging and production environments. The architecture is described as cloud hosted with managed platform services that support automated application deployments, backup and monitoring capabilities, and content delivery acceleration through integrated CDN patterns.
Operational responsibility for the Acquia Cloud environment is concentrated in central web operations and IT, with publishing and editorial workflows supporting communications and site administrators. Governance emphasizes editorial workflow controls and environment separation for release management, aligning platform configuration with standard web operations practices rather than bespoke on premise infrastructure.
