In 2017, Prysmian implemented BlackLine Cash Application as an AR Automation solution. The deployment targeted accounts receivable and cash application workflows and was embedded into the finance operating model to support general ledger and bank accounting functions across Prysmian's European shared services and Milan headquarters.
The BlackLine Cash Application implementation focused on automated remittance processing, electronic matching of payments to invoices, exception management and unapplied cash workflows, reflecting standard AR Automation capabilities. Configuration emphasized matching rules, exception routing for analyst review, and GL posting interfaces to support monthly close and recurring entries.
The project ran alongside other digital finance initiatives including Tagetik, Discover and ServiceNow, and was operated by GL and bank accounting teams that centralized activities from Romania and the Czech Republic into the Milan service center. Operational coverage included GL, bank accounting and accounts receivable teams across EU countries, and the solution supported shared guidelines for balance sheet account reconciliation.
Governance placed ownership with the GL team for daily operations and the closing calendar, with process standardization workstreams to unify horizontal accounting processes across countries. The rollout supported automation projects explicitly intended to deliver time and resource savings and established BlackLine Cash Application as a core AR Automation capability within Prysmian's finance stack.
