In 2018 Bank of Montreal initiated an SAP S/4HANA Cloud program to deliver core ERP Financial capabilities. The program included a focused upgrade of the SAP Workforce Time and Attendance application from 1709 to 1909 within the SAP S/4HANA Cloud environment, supported by SAP Maxattention.
Implementation work covered SAP Financial Accounting, SAP Controlling, SAP Material Management, SAP Workforce, and SAP Human Capital Resource modules, with configuration and testing activity centered on the Workforce Time and Attendance application. The QA organization led functional and non functional testing across system integration testing, end to end process testing, and automation using Selenium, and developed comprehensive regression suites to cover integrated business processes.
Testing validated data mapping through source code inspection, metadata checks, and integrated APIs, and included performance testing coordinated with the automation team to build a robust suite. Integrations were exercised across a middle layer and the SAP backend to ensure attendance data flow and process orchestration between the attendance app and core SAP S/4HANA modules.
Governance was operationalized through defect management in Jira with regular triage meetings involving development, business, and delivery teams, and progress reporting to senior management that included risk and KPI reports. QA financial objectives were managed by estimating requirements, preparing budgets, aligning resources with timelines, and maintaining test discipline through review of test scenarios, test cases, test data, and a requirements traceability matrix.

In 2022, Mahindra and Mahindra implemented SAP S/4HANA Cloud as an ERP Financial solution. The program migrated the company from its existing SAP S/4 HANA footprint to SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition, with SAP Maxattention providing project planning and safeguarding from initial planning through Go Live.
Deployment architecture emphasized scale and throughput, with Google Cloud selected as the infrastructure provider to host SAP S/4HANA Cloud and to deliver high bandwidth, low latency networking for scale-up and scale-out scenarios. Intensive load testing during the project showed a single-node HANA database would not sustain peak CPU requirements, so SAP HANA database scale-out was introduced in August 2022, and the environment went live three and a half months later as a distributed HANA database installation.
Functionally the SAP S/4HANA Cloud implementation retained core SAP S/4HANA modules and processes at enterprise scale, supporting more than 25,000 users across over 80 company codes and running FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, Asset Management and core flows such as record-to-report, order-to-cash and procure-to-pay. The program also adopted SAP S/4HANA Cloud native UX by introducing more than 90 standard and roughly 200 custom SAP Fiori applications to address business-specific process variations.
Governance combined SAP Maxattention services and the SAP S/4HANA customer care program, with assigned project coaches assisting product feature clarification and rapid issue resolution during cutover. The collaboration between Mahindra and Mahindra, SAP teams and Google Cloud delivered the first productive SAP S/4HANA Cloud system operating on a distributed SAP HANA database for the customer, demonstrating cloud scale-out of SAP S/4HANA for large enterprise ERP Financial workloads.
