In 2018, Pure Storage implemented Workday Absence Management as part of its Absence and Leave Management tooling alongside a broader Workday HCM, Benefits and Compensation configuration. Configuration work focused on Absence Management functional modules, including creation of Leave of Absence rules to define worker eligibility and validation, use of the Workday Calculation Engine to calculate complex accruals for time off and leave plans, and configuration of staffing, business processes and notifications. The implementation included configuration of benefits groups, plans, coverage types, event types and eligibility rules for multiple countries, and setup of salary plans, hourly plans and allowance plans to align pay elements with absence policies.
Integration architecture combined Workday Enterprise Interface Builder EIBs, Workday Studio and Cloud Connect, with Document Transformation and XSL transformations to convert fixed width files into XML using XSD. Both inbound and outbound EIBs were built and existing integrations were modified to pick full populations, producing outbound data feeds to third party systems such as ServiceNow, Send Word Now, Kaiser, Cigna and Paylocity. The integration design included configured integration notifications and calculated fields and custom reports to feed downstream systems and to support reconciliations.
Operational governance covered requirements gathering and analysis for Absence Management, security group and business process configuration, and vendor communications to design the cutover plan.
