In 2019, RBC Capital Markets implemented Volante VolPay to support Payment Processing for US Cash Management initiatives and to centralize payments and finance data flows across treasury, onboarding, and compliance functions. The deployment focused on preparing a Day 1 MVP and involved cross‑line coordination with RBC Wealth Management, AML, Fraud, Enterprise Risk, Contingent Workforce Management, and Compliance to identify the critical payment and finance data elements required for operational readiness.
Volante VolPay was configured to support payment data modeling and field mapping activities, with explicit work to align payment related data fields to ISO20022 standards and to eliminate duplicate fields that used different naming conventions but carried the same values. The engagement produced a catalog of new payment and finance fields and a prioritized list of existing fields requiring new mapping, feeding requirements into the build backlog for the end to end payments workflow.
Integrations were formalized with finance and onboarding systems, including Finacle for financial records, Fenergo and MRD for client on boarding data, and Collibra for data catalogue updates, while VolPay served as the Payment Processing hub. Working group sessions were facilitated that included VolPay and Finacle liaisons, payment and finance data experts, and subject matter experts from AML, Fraud, and Enterprise Risk to define precise mapping and data exchange requirements.
Governance activities included hosting backlog grooming sessions to capture user stories necessary for the build and delivery of critical data elements and coordinating with Lines of Business to validate mappings and catalogue changes. The implementation emphasized data governance alignment, mandatory data element definition for payments, and updating the Collibra data catalogue to reflect new and remapped payment and finance fields.

Architecturally the Hyland Alfresco Activiti Cloud implementation embraced cloud-native and DevOps practices, with a CI/CD pipeline that uses Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Maven, Jenkins, and Git to automate build, test, and deployment workflows. The platform was configured to support rapid application onboarding and iterative releases, and the Hyland Alfresco Activiti Cloud environment functioned as a centralized Business Process Management layer across multiple functional workflows.
Governance and process changes focused on embedding process automation into operational controls, tightening approval and audit trails by surfacing document metadata alongside process state. Development practices emphasized reusable components and automated pipelines to shorten development cycles and standardize rollout procedures across operations, tax, compliance, and trade support teams.
RBC Capital Markets reported explicit outcomes tied to the program, including increased operational efficiency, shortened development cycles, tighter internal controls, strengthened regulatory compliance, and faster turnaround on business requirements.
