In 2023, Sandvik implemented FIS Integrated Payables as a core component of its AP Automation strategy. The deployment extended Sandvik's existing relationship with FIS, building on the company’s use of FIS Payment Hub, FIS Swift Services, and FIS Quantum treasury solution to consolidate payments and payables capabilities.
FIS Integrated Payables was configured to deliver standard AP Automation capabilities including electronic invoice capture, automated three way matching and exception routing, configurable approval workflows, and centralized payment orchestration. The implementation emphasized supplier onboarding and payment method rationalization, with invoice-to-pay process automation and reconciliation features provisioned inside the FIS Integrated Payables platform.
The solution was integrated with Sandvik’s finance and treasury systems and with FIS Payment Hub and FIS Swift Services to centralize payment execution and SWIFT connectivity. Operational coverage targeted accounts payable and treasury collaboration, aligning payables processing with treasury liquidity and FX operations to reduce fragmentation across the group’s finance functions.
Governance focused on standardizing payables workflows and formalizing approval and supplier controls to support centralized decision making and auditability. Rollout prioritized tight coordination between AP, treasury, and shared services teams to align process ownership, data governance, and ongoing operational support for the FIS Integrated Payables deployment.

| IBM | Legacy | IBM Maximo | Enterprise Asset Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2020 | 2020 |
In 2020, Sandvik implemented IBM Maximo as part of an Enterprise Asset Management deployment for Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology. The project embedded predictive analytics into maintenance workflows to improve mining output and safety. The implementation was integrated with Optimine, Sandvik's information and process management solution.
The deployment used IBM Maximo Asset Management running on IBM Cloud and integrated IBM Watson IoT to ingest sensor telemetry for condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. Functional capabilities included asset lifecycle management, automated work order generation from predictive alerts, and maintenance prioritization driven by analytics. Configuration emphasized telemetry mapping, alert thresholds, and scheduling rules to operationalize maintenance actions.
Integrations with IBM Watson IoT and Optimine formed an architecture where telemetry streams into IBM Maximo Asset Management and insights are surfaced to operators for action. Operational coverage focused on mining equipment maintenance and production operations, enabling mining operators to act on condition data and maintenance insights. Hosting on IBM Cloud supported scalable ingestion and analytics processing for large equipment fleets.
Governance and process changes shifted maintenance practices toward predictive scheduling, embedding analytic alerts into maintenance planning and operator decision workflows. The solution enabled mining companies to reduce mine production downtime by as much as 30 percent.
