In 2024, SAP Garden implemented SAP Customer Checkout POS for Point Of Sale to consolidate fan-facing commerce across the new Munich arena. The deployment supports matchday sales for a venue that hosts up to 11,500 hockey and basketball fans, and it was conceived as part of a unified digital platform developed through collaboration among SAP, Red Bull Munich, and FC Bayern Basketball using design thinking workshops and startup ecosystem input.
SAP Customer Checkout POS was configured to enable mobile ordering, cashless payments, real-time stock updates, and loyalty management for the Red Bull Munich CheckBack program. The implementation links point of sale transaction handling with loyalty reward issuance and mobile order fulfillment, and it supports seat-level service scenarios by tying order and fulfillment workflows to the venue seating model and mobile ticketing experience.
Architecturally the solution is embedded in SAP’s platform stack, using SAP Business Technology Platform as the integration and analytics backbone. SAP Integration Suite provides bidirectional data flows between SAP Customer Checkout POS and enterprise systems including SAP S/4HANA for revenue tracking, while SAP Analytics Cloud consumes sales and inventory feeds to produce matchday dashboards. SAP Customer Identity and Access Management provides real-time authentication across ticketing, mobile ordering, and in-arena purchases to maintain consistent fan identity and consent profiles.
Governance and operational rollout emphasized cross-functional alignment between ticketing, merchandise, and catering operations, with process definitions originating from joint workshops and a central data model on SAP BTP. The integrated setup supports streamlined ticket purchasing through SAP Event Ticketing and delivers operational benefits that are explicitly described as mobile ordering convenience and reduced queuing through cashless payments and live stock visibility. Future reporting enhancements are planned through participation in SAP Analytics Cloud pilots with Joule and the video data stories feature, which will extend matchday reporting formats.
