Microsoft Legacy Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations ERP Financial ERP n/a 2022 2022
In 2022 Sara Lee Australia & New Zealand implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as its ERP Financial solution following the 2021 acquisition from McCain Foods Australia & New Zealand, and to meet a mandated transition from McCain’s SAP ERP by the first quarter of 2022. The program used a Minimum Viable Product approach for Manufacturing, Fusion5 was appointed as the D365 vendor, and out-of-scope functionality was scheduled for a Release 2 iteration. The implementation focused on core Finance and Operations modules configured for manufacturing workflows, including manufacturing execution, purchasing, inventory management, plant maintenance, accounts payable automation, product lifecycle management, business intelligence and financial metrics, and integrated demand forecasting. Project activities explicitly included data migration, development of test scripts for user acceptance testing, structured end user training, and User Acceptance Testing coordination to validate the MVP scope. Real-time integration of purchasing, inventory and plant maintenance systems was implemented to ensure operational continuity between shop floor and finance processes, and data migration addressed transactional and master data needed for go-live. Operational coverage centered on finance, procurement, supply chain and manufacturing functions within Sara Lee Australia & New Zealand, with post-go-live hypercare and staged feature delivery planned to expand functionality. Combined Management Consultants provided a client-sided Senior Project Manager who oversaw project deliverables, scheduling and coordination, data migration, UAT execution, end user training delivery, and organisational change management. After go-live CMC continued to support hypercare and subsequent improvements, which ensured a smooth transition for Sara Lee and established a foundation for ongoing system enhancements.
