Microsoft Legacy Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP Financial ERP n/a 2008 2008
In 2008 Simpson Strong-Tie implemented Microsoft Dynamics AX in an ERP Financial deployment, rolling out Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 and AX 2009 across the company worldwide. The implementation supported more than 200 users across 30 locations and established an operational footprint focused on finance and warehouse business functions. The authoring resource acted as ERP admin and developer, providing company level functional support across GL, AR, AP, inventory and shopfloor processing. The implementation included configuration and day to day security change management in Microsoft Dynamics AX, with hands on X++ and C# development for AR and AP customizations. Enterprise Portal was implemented and extended, with Report development using SSRS and broader data and analytics work through SSAS customizations. SSIS package development was used to support data movement and integration workflows. Infrastructure and deployment architecture included a Hyper-V environment built and maintained for DEV QA and UAT, with application lifecycle tooling hosted in TFS 2010 and database administration for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008 on Windows Server 2003 and 2008 R2. The technical stack therefore combined Microsoft Dynamics AX with Microsoft platform components including Enterprise Portal, SSRS, SSAS and SSIS to provide application, reporting and ETL layers. Operational coverage included international users, home office employees, finance teams and warehouse staff, with the ERP admin functioning as the central point for configuration changes and user support. Governance emphasized ongoing functional support, security administration and configuration control within AX, and the role blended DBA and system administration responsibilities to sustain continuous AX operations.
