IBM Legacy IBM AS/400 ERP Financial ERP n/a 2019 2019
In 2019, Sofina Foods Inc. implemented IBM AS/400 as its ERP Financial platform. The deployment centralized core financial processing in IBM AS/400 and positioned finance and management control as the primary business functions supported by the application. The IBM AS/400 implementation encompassed journal entry processing and general ledger workflows, monthly Management Control Report production, and systematic balance sheet reconciliations. Financial analysts performed monthly preparation of journal entries into AS/400 and monthly balance sheet reconciliations and follow ups, while ad hoc financial accounting analysis was executed through direct data queries against AS400 records. Existing VBA and Macro enabled templates were reviewed and extended to enable new reporting functionality and automation to meet management reporting expectations. Operational coverage extended beyond accounting into cross functional support for commercial activities, with monitoring of marketing programs and trade spend, management of promotional programs, and reconciliation of charge backs and recoveries documented as part of routine AS/400 activity. Daily inventory reports and yield management reports were generated from AS/400 sourced data to support operational reviews and to align inventory metrics with financial reporting. Governance and workflow changes emphasized regularized monthly close and reporting cycles, including preparation of the monthly Management Control Report, routine journal entry workflows in AS400, and follow up on reconciliations. The AS/400 configuration supported special project accounting needs such as price increases and changes to customer trade programs, embedding those controls into ongoing financial processes.

Dayforce Legacy Ceridian Dayforce HCM Core HR HCM n/a 2019 2019
In 2019, Sofina Foods Inc. initiated deployment of Ceridian Dayforce HCM. The Core HR program focused on HCM and payroll capabilities across approximately 4,900 employees, with go live completed in May 2021 when Ceridian Dayforce HCM and payroll were active for the workforce. The implementation configured Ceridian Dayforce HCM to provide payroll processing and core human capital management workflows, while aligning timekeeping and workforce management with a parallel Kronos WFD initiative. The program supported payroll rule configuration, employee data consolidation from multiple spreadsheets and antiquated systems, and consolidation of timekeeping for 3,900 hourly employees into Kronos WFD. Project activities included decommissioning multiple systems and negotiating data retention protocols with respective vendors, and leading vendor meetings to upgrade the MPLS network and aging IT infrastructure to support cloud HCM operations. The program also involved executive level coordination with KPMG, Deloitte, E&Y, and PwC on planning for a new single ERP initiative to replace multiple aging systems. Governance operated with an informal project structure reporting directly to the CIO, and the team began establishing a formal PMO. Microsoft Project and MS Office supported program management, the core team numbered seven with an extended team of sixteen, and the project budget was tracked at $600,000 with executive steering reviews every six weeks. The initiative resulted in the successful implementation of Ceridian Dayforce HCM and payroll for 4,900 employees in May 2021 at net zero additional cost to Sofina Foods, decommissioning multiple antiquated systems while preserving data retention integrity, and moving 95 percent of hourly employees, approximately 3,900 people, to Kronos WFD.
