Integration work tied SAP S/4 HANA to internal financial modules and external banking channels, preserving bank communication interfaces and connections to payment service providers, while ensuring intercompany settlement and cash pooling processes remained operational. Operational scope covered Sulzers global manufacturing footprint, with the central payment platform acting as the liquidity hub for regional finance and treasury teams.
Governance and rollout addressed the high complexity of migrating a central liquidity function, with process standardization for payment authorization, exception handling, and treasury oversight instituted as part of the cutover. In 2022, Sulzer implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation to centralize global pay planning and governance across its Global Human Resources organization. Integrations were implemented to ensure seamless data flows between SAP SuccessFactors Compensation and the global HRMS system as well as HR KPI dashboards used for reporting and trend analysis. Operational coverage included country and division HR teams coordinating merit and salary planning, finance validation for committee materials, and consolidation of executive level compensation analysis and regulatory inputs across Sulzer’s international footprint.
Governance and process redesign accompanied the technical rollout, with formalized annual cycle ownership for salary, bonus and LTI planning, predefined templates for country submissions, regular benchmarking studies with Mercer and WillisTowersWatson feeding job evaluation and pay positioning, and standard communication channels to HR, managers, and employees. The program emphasized centralized configuration control, role based approval workflows, and preparation of Compensation Committee materials to support consistent governance across the organization.

In 2020, Sulzer implemented SAP Analytics Cloud as part of a hybrid Analytics and BI strategy to connect cloud analytics with existing on-premise reporting. The initiative positioned SAP Analytics Cloud at the center of a hybrid data landscape combining on-premise SAP BusinessObjects and SAP Business Warehouse with cloud-based consumption.
The implementation used SAP BusinessObjects Live Data Connect and included an upgrade from LDC 2.3 to LDC 3.0 to enable a live data connection between on-premise reporting and SAP Analytics Cloud. Sulzer participated in SAP’s Early Adopter Care program, leveraging SAP expert support to validate the live connection, configuration, and compatibility for enterprise reporting workflows.
Operational integration focused on maintaining on-premise data security behind preconfigured firewalls while exposing governed live data to the cloud analytics layer. The deployment preserved existing SAP BusinessObjects and SAP BW data sources, while SAP Analytics Cloud was configured to consume models and universes through the upgraded Live Data Connect, supporting reporting and dashboarding use cases across IT and analytics teams.
Governance and rollout followed a hybrid pattern, coordinating on-premise security controls with cloud access policies and using the EAC engagement to accelerate testing and operational readiness. With SAP Analytics Cloud in place, Sulzer is able to support customers in expanding analytics consumption to the cloud and to offer a flexible, adaptable data solution that bridges on-premise SAP BusinessObjects ecosystems and cloud analytics.
