In 2017, Synthomer PLC provisioned SAP S/4 HANA Finance in a proof of concept on premise using the S/4 1709 release as Work Stream 1, targeting the companys ERP Financial footprint. The SAP S/4 HANA Finance implementation focused on transactional finance capabilities and was positioned to centralize core accounting and financial close processes within the ERP Financial domain. Configuration work emphasized standard financial modules typical to SAP S/4 HANA Finance, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting and controlling, with the system running on an HANA database to support transactional processing and embedded analytics. The implementation was scoped as a PoC to validate module configuration, master data structures, and period end processing workflows for the finance organization. Integrations were explicitly implemented between the on premise SAP S/4 1709 environment and cloud systems C4C and Ariba, enabling transactional and master data flows to support customer engagement and procurement processes. Integration patterns connected on premise financial transactions to cloud customer and procurement systems, and integration testing was executed as part of the work stream to validate end to end flows. Work Stream 2 implemented a cloud based SAP Analytics Cloud deployment on HANA DB for reporting, providing a separate analytics layer that consumed S/4 HANA data for corporate and finance reporting. Delivery governance was organized into the two work streams, separating the S/4 HANA Finance PoC and the SAP Analytics Cloud reporting rollout to manage scope, testing and staged integration between transactional and reporting platforms.
