In 2020 TAFE NSW began developing Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions as part of a Student Information strategy to establish an operational spine that supports course development and administration. The Student Management Solution program consolidated 11 regional EBS instances into a single OneTAFE EBS instance in 2020, creating a sole dataset to improve data quality and provide teachers with a single view of students across TAFE NSW.
Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions has been configured with core Student Information functional workflows for course management, enrolment processing, student records and academic administration, aligned to the operational spine requirement. Configuration emphasis has been on supporting the course lifecycle and administrative workflows that underpin course creation, scheduling and enrolment management.
The implementation landscape integrates PeopleSoft Campus with the consolidated OneTAFE EBS instance and the broader identity and access environment, reflecting an identity management solution finalised in October 2020 and a multi factor authentication rollout to all staff in 2020. The program also aligns with a next generation telephony and contact centre platform deployed in 2020 and a continuing student technology service desk introduced in May 2020 to support off site learners, while front end website enhancements are being developed to guide course exploration and the enrolment journey.
Governance and operational changes were delivered through the SMS program, which established consistent workflows and an improved operating model for student services and contact centre interactions, and which progressed technical readiness toward 2021 and 2022. Identity management enabled consistent identification of contractors, staff and students, and program governance incorporated strengthened controls around Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard requirements for handling card holder data.
Explicit outcomes documented in 2020 include improved data quality and consistency from the OneTAFE EBS consolidation, a strengthened cybersecurity posture through multi factor authentication and identity management, decommissioning of regional high risk PABX platforms, and improved compliance controls for PCI DSS in handling card holder data.
