In 2013, Tata Motors European Technical Centre implemented Sage 200 as its ERP Financial platform to support the finance and accounting function at the UK technical centre. The deployment was focused on statutory and management reporting to the Indian parent, Tata Motors Limited, with year end statements prepared to FRS 101 and subsidiary submissions aligned to IFRS standards.
Sage 200 was configured to support core general ledger processes, fixed asset register management, month end accruals and prepayments, VAT return preparation and bank reconciliation workflows. Functional activity recorded during the engagement included preparation of financial year end statements, calculation and posting of monthly accruals and prepayments, monthly bank reconciliations, monthly fixed asset additions and depreciation, and reconciliation of related party balances. Excel and Word were used alongside Sage 200 for detailed analysis and statutory submissions.
Operational coverage centered on the finance department at TMETC with monthly reporting cadence to the group company and handling of government business surveys and HMRC interactions for research and development tax claims. The implementation supported structured exports and reporting to an external tax consultant and to the parent company, enabling the presentation to HMRC and submission of large company R and D claims for multiple years.
Governance and process changes were driven by finance staff, including redesign of the VAT reconciliation process and introduction of a new accruals process to streamline month end close. An 18 month cost analysis was completed to identify substantial cost savings and process improvements for purchase order processing, and the finance team documented and implemented simplified VAT return procedures while keeping TMETC aligned with applicable accounting standards.

In 2020, Tata Motors European Technical Centre implemented Amazon EC2 for Application Hosting and Computing Services. The deployment is used to host the organization website and to provide public facing compute capacity for web workloads, aligning the Tata Motors European Technical Centre use of Amazon EC2 with its Application Hosting and Computing Services needs. The engineering center operates from the United Kingdom with roughly 400 employees, and the implementation is centered on web infrastructure rather than back office ERP or HR systems.
The implementation leverages core Amazon EC2 capabilities typical of the Application Hosting and Computing Services category, including image based instance provisioning, virtual server lifecycle management, and elastic compute capacity to handle variable web traffic. Configuration is aligned to standard cloud compute patterns, including instance sizing, operating system selection, key based access, and network level security controls such as security group style segmentation and isolated network subnets. Amazon EC2 is used as the primary compute layer for the website and for hosting web application components that require direct control of instance configuration.
Operational ownership sits with infrastructure and web operations functions and touches development teams responsible for site deployments. Governance emphasizes instance lifecycle procedures, patching and access control, and monitoring of public facing endpoints to maintain availability and security for the website. Tata Motors European Technical Centre uses Amazon EC2 for Application Hosting and Computing Services to provide a managed compute foundation for its web presence while keeping operational control over instance configuration and network security.
