In 2017 Textron Aviation implemented Oracle Cloud ERP, replacing Infor Lawson for its corporate office to centralize and modernize finance and support operations. The deployment targeted corporate support functions that include finance, treasury, executive rewards, IT, legal and environmental health and safety, with the objective of automating core business processes and improving decision making through real-time financial reporting.
Oracle Cloud ERP was configured as a cloud-based ERP Financial system to streamline financial processes and reporting, strengthen controls and provide continuous access to cloud innovations and automatic upgrades. Functional capabilities emphasized during the implementation included core financial management, consolidated reporting and controls automation consistent with enterprise ERP Financial workflows.
The project was executed as a cloud deployment with Oracle acting as the vendor and implementation partner, achieving a 14 week go-live for the corporate office and remaining live for almost a year after cutover. Textron Aviation is building on this footprint by enhancing Oracle Cloud Applications to include Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud Service, extending the Oracle Cloud ERP environment for tax reporting needs.
Governance and operational changes focused on centralizing corporate financial processes and reducing the operational burden of application updates. Reported outcomes include increased productivity, reduced costs and improved controls, and a significant reduction in upgrade time from a reported nine months to approximately a day and a half when applying new features to Oracle Cloud ERP.
