| Workday | Legacy | Workday Compensation | Compensation Management | HCM | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019 The Salvation Army Australia implemented Workday Compensation as part of a broader Workday HCM program. The deployment targeted Compensation Management across the organisation and was scoped to support a combined workforce that includes 10,000 employees, 1,000 Officers and 100,000 volunteers, with HR teams operating nationally from Melbourne and supporting payroll and workforce processes for 40,000 workers in operational records.
The implementation bundled Workday Compensation with Core HCM, Recruiting, Time Tracking, Talent and Performance, and was configured to support standard Compensation Management workflows. Workday Compensation was set up to manage compensation plans, salary structures, eligibility and approval workflows for periodic merit and market adjustments, and to align on and off system HR procedures with automated approval routing and role based security for compensation administrators and managers.
Integrations were explicitly harmonised during the program, with iChris payroll implemented for pay processing and Kronos rolled out to cover time capture for the 24/7 workforce of approximately 5,000 workers. Operational support for the solution was provisioned through the HR Service Desk, Workforce Insights and HR Systems development functions, enabling ongoing data integrity checks, people data management and reporting across payroll and HR processes.
Governance and rollout were driven by an HR Stream Lead seconded to the program and a cross functional HR Directorate team, who led consultation, development and approval of HR procedures and change management activities. Workday Compensation and its adjacent modules were integrated into established HR workflows to centralise compensation administration, and the HR team continues to use the Workday Compensation application to support payment processes that affect more than 10,000 employees and the broader workforce data estate.

In 2015 The Salvation Army Australia implemented QlikView for Analytics and BI to centralize dashboarding and ad hoc reporting for operational and program reporting teams. The implementation focused on embedding QlikView as the primary analytics application, aligning application support with enterprise reporting requirements and ongoing system stewardship.
Day to day operations included providing second and third level application, database and system support, performing daily system checks, and examining system operations and databases to map data sources and relationships. Technical workstreams covered development of SQL views, triggers and stored procedures, design of physical database schema, data modelling and performance tuning, and responsibilities for database security and preventing data loss.
The implementation extracted and associated data from multiple data sources to populate QlikView dashboards and ad hoc reports, while also producing reports with Crystal Reports, Excel VBA and SSRS as required by users. Teams developed a data migration plan and process for ongoing projects, and used diagnostic techniques to improve reporting performance, with ongoing manipulation, cleansing and processing of source data to meet reporting SLAs.
Governance was structured around ITIL change and release management coordinated via ServiceNow, with formal documentation of business systems and user needs including data relationship diagrams and business process flows. The program included liaison with end users and third party suppliers, contributions to strategic development and training, and advisory input on methodology suitability and process improvements.
Operational coverage emphasized support for enterprise reporting and analytics functions, combining application level administration in QlikView with underlying database and ETL stewardship to ensure reliable data delivery. QlikView served as the central Analytics and BI application connecting source systems, reporting tools and business stakeholders to support ongoing reporting and analytics needs.
