In 2009, Torrent Power implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as an ERP Financial application to provide a centralized platform for enterprise financial and transactional processes. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 implementation was positioned as the companywide ERP Financial system supporting core finance and related operational functions.
The technical landscape was built around ECC 6.0 with ERP 8 and Netweaver 7.5, complemented by BW, BO, EP, PO and Solution Manager with ITSM and ChaRM capabilities, and an SAP Content Server. Basis and infrastructure responsibilities were managed by an Assistant Manager SAP Basis Team Lead with a three person team, covering system sizing that included ERP at approximately 3 TB in HANA DB, BW at 1 TB in HANA DB, a content server at 6 TB in MaxDB, and other systems running on SAP ASE databases.
Operational architecture spanned three datacenters configured as PDC to NDC to FDC, with 68 LPAR across SLES-12 and AIX-7 operating systems on IBM Power8 E880 and S824 servers, V7K and V5K storage, and an IBM Spectrum Tivoli backup solution. The environment comprised multiple database platforms including Oracle, HANA, SAP ASE and MaxDB, and the team executed hardware installations, DB and OS migrations, and system upgrades with assistance from SAP where noted.
Governance and rollout activity included three roll-outs of the SAP environment, a formal SAP upgrade project that moved EHP-4 to EHP7 and Netweaver-7.0 to Netweaver-7.4 in 2014, and migrations of ECC and BW to HANA based stacks identified as SOH-EHP8-HANA2 and BWOH-NW7.5-HANA2 with other systems migrated to SAP ASE and NW7.5. Database workstreams included Oracle upgrades from 10g to 11g and patch updates to 11.2.0.4, and an Oracle Advanced Compression initiative that reduced database size by 65%. A Near-DR architecture was implemented using Storage Metro mirror and HACMP-XD clustering to enhance resilience.

In 2019 Torrent Power implemented SAP BW (Business Warehouse) as a Data Warehouse to centralize planning, budgeting and forecasting workflows across generation and distribution operations. The 20 month engagement delivered SAP BW 7.0 with SAP BI Integrated Planning capabilities to support enterprise planning use cases and information modeling for financial and operational planning.
