In 2017 Universal Music Japan implemented Kaonavi Talent Management to centralize Talent Management functions within its HR organization in Tokyo. The deployment was positioned as a localized talent and appraisal platform to support global and local HR planning, with explicit linkage to reporting flows to headquarters in the United States and the parent company in France.
The Kaonavi Talent Management implementation included configuration of core talent modules and a rebuilt appraisal workflow, the transfer of legacy appraisal records into Kaonavi, and creation of operation manuals and localization settings. The project scope covered talent profiles, appraisal scoring, and support for global aptitude test workflows that were localized in 2018 and 2020, reflecting continuous configuration and change management activities.
Operationally Kaonavi Talent Management was instrumented with data transfer automation to the organization s Core HCM and to a global data warehouse, enabling automated feeds from the Japanese HR system into global reporting. The HR technology landscape was coordinated with concurrent Workday HCM initiatives and SAP reporting automation, and the team integrated Kaonavi outputs into broader payroll BPO reporting and global headcount forecasting processes.
Governance and rollout emphasized process documentation, manual creation, and workflow systematization, with the HR team centralizing inquiry handling via a kintone based Digital HR Service Desk and aligning appraisal operations to standardized procedures. The Kaonavi Talent Management deployment supported broader HR process transformation activities at Universal Music Japan, while separate payroll reporting automation to SAP delivered an explicitly stated 57 percent reduction in compensation and benefits working hours as part of the payroll BPO program.
