In 2008 University of Stirling implemented Unit4 Business World as its ERP Financial solution to support financial control and transactional processing for the Estates and Campus Services department. The deployment was managed inside a central Systems team that retained responsibility for configuration, development, report writing, user support and training for campus operational systems.
Configuration work prioritized core ERP Financial capabilities, with emphasis on general ledger configuration, accounts payable and receivable workflows, fixed asset tracking and project cost accounting to align with estates budgeting and cost allocation processes. The Systems team established template-driven configuration and a report lifecycle to govern financial reporting and operational chargebacks used by estates maintenance and campus services.
Unit4 Business World was operated alongside and interfaced with a large estate of operational systems, including Archibus Web Central with AutoCAD overlay and the MASS Asbestos module, the Mitel Telephone System including AWC administration and IVR routing, SystemsLink Energy Manager, the Kinetics suite including KxPlorer KxFinancials and KxBnB, TigerTMS, iCharge, eHandS, Meterology, Workrite Posturite training and AMS accident management, Occam Room Service, TDSI and Salto access control systems, NeoPost, Metric Pay and Display, Terminal Four internal web pages and an Agresso finance system plus Drake Kannemeyer condition survey tools. Integrations focused on data exchange for asset records, service charge feeds, energy and meter reconciliation, and consolidated financial reporting across estates operations and campus services.
Operational governance rested with the Systems team which combined application administration, configuration management and user training to maintain financial and operational workflows for Estates and Campus Services. Ongoing responsibilities included report development, change control for configuration updates and first and second line support, ensuring Unit4 Business World functioned as the ERP Financial backbone for estates accounting and campus operational finance activities.
