In 2018, Vacasa implemented Sterling Background Check to standardize candidate screening within its Talent Acquisition function. The deployment introduced Sterling Background Check as the enterprise BackGround Screening application used to support high-volume recruiting across roles such as housekeeping, property management, customer service, and software engineering, aligning the screening process with Vacasa’s national and international hiring activities.
Configuration focused on applicant-triggered screening workflows and automated result routing, leveraging category-aligned capabilities such as identity verification, criminal record screening, and employment and education verification typical of BackGround Screening solutions. The Sterling Background Check implementation was configured to interoperate with Vacasa’s applicant tracking and recruiting toolset, including Greenhouse for requisition posting and candidate lifecycle orchestration, and SterlingOne for background order management and result consolidation.
Governance and operational integration centered on formalizing consent and compliance workflows within recruiting and Employee Experience teams, with coordination across Domestic and International HR Managers and Payroll/Benefits to ensure consistent screening policies. Process changes included embedding screening steps into offer-to-hire sequences, standardizing screening panels by role, and routing verification outcomes back to hiring managers to support recruiting decisions while maintaining confidential handling of candidate data.

| Legacy | Google Workspace (Formerly Google G-Suite) | Collaboration | Collaboration | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021 Vacasa implemented Google Workspace (Formerly Google G-Suite) as its Collaboration platform. The implementation centered on enterprise provisioning of Google Workspace to a distributed, remote workforce to standardize email, calendaring, file collaboration, and administrative controls across the organization.
Google Workspace (Formerly Google G-Suite) was configured using the Google Workspace Admin console to manage Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, and shared team drives, with policy enforcement for account provisioning, group management, and access controls. Configuration work included scripting and automation for user lifecycle management and creation of user facing self service tools to reduce repetitive administrative tasks.
The deployment integrated tightly with endpoint and device management tooling that Vacasa was building, specifically Workspace One and Munki for macOS fleet management, to align device provisioning, application deployment, patch management, encryption, and threat remediation workflows with collaboration services. Operational scope included IT support and client platform engineering teams delivering escalations, training, and documentation to support a globally distributed user base and a growing fleet of endpoints.
Governance was structured through ITIL oriented process improvements, formalized documentation, and cross training to scale support and incident handling for Collaboration services. The program emphasized automation of provisioning flows, knowledge sharing across IT, and embedding Google Workspace administration into existing endpoint management and security workflows.
