In 2015, WellMed implemented Oracle PeopleSoft ERP as its ERP Financial system to support accounting and finance operations across two separate business units. The deployment centered on month end close and recurring journal management, with PeopleSoft used to post journal entries to the general ledger and to prepare and post entries for the monthly close cycle.
The implementation used Oracle PeopleSoft ERP capabilities aligned to General Ledger processing, Accounts Payable coding review, financial statement generation, and variance analysis workflows. Configuration work focused on journal entry templates, approval routing for posted journals, segmented chart of accounts to represent the two business units, and structured financial reporting output for review and sign off.
PeopleSoft was integrated with Blackline for account reconciliations, enabling reconciliations to be managed in Blackline while journal and G L posting remained in PeopleSoft. Operational coverage included finance and accounting teams responsible for AP invoice coding reviews, account reconciliations in Blackline, variance analysis, and creation and review of financial statements for each business unit.
Governance centered on monthly close controls and review workflows, with formal steps to prepare and post entries, review AP invoices for correct coding prior to posting, execute variance analysis, and produce reviewed financial statements. Role based review and approval routing within PeopleSoft supported control of journal posting and financial close processes, aligning system configuration to the organization level close cadence.
