In 2016, Western Financial Group implemented Payscale Payfactors as its Compensation Management application to standardize compensation planning across an employee base of approximately 1,800 in Canada. Payscale Payfactors was provisioned to support the Total Rewards & Systems function within the People & Culture business unit and to align merit and incentive workflows with HR and payroll operations.
Configuration focused on compensation planning workflows, including Annual Merit and Sales Bonus cycles and goals and performance-linked adjustments, with Payscale Payfactors used to collect pay inputs, maintain pay structure data, and drive compensation decisioning. The HRIS team operated Payscale Payfactors alongside existing HR processes to generate the compensation inputs required for annual and incentive programs and to support HR reporting requirements.
The deployment operated alongside SuccessFactors (SAP), Workforce (Workforce Software), and BizFlow, with HRIS, Business Systems & Technology, and Payroll teams coordinating data exchanges and reporting across these platforms. Employee master data, access controls maintained in SuccessFactors, and compensation inputs were coordinated to provide consistent data feeds and stakeholder dashboards for compensation cycles.
Governance centered on centralized HRIS ownership of compensation cycle execution, ongoing participation in cross-functional HR projects, and the monthly and quarterly delivery of HR metrics and compensation reports to stakeholders. Payscale Payfactors was embedded in People & Culture workflows to formalize the cadence for merit, bonus, and performance-related compensation planning while HRIS retained responsibility for role-based permissions management and system-level reporting.
