In 2020, WPP implemented Workday Absence Management to centralize absence policies and automate leave workflows as part of its Absence and Leave Management initiative. The deployment focused on managing HR leave administration, timekeeping coordination, and payroll adjacent absence data within the Workday application suite.
Workday Absence Management was configured to support standard absence modules including absence plans, eligibility rules, approval routing, and balance calculations, with configuration workbooks and functional design documentation used to capture requirements. Implementation work included configuration and troubleshooting for Core HCM business processes with a particular focus on JML workflows, as well as integration points with compensation and Workday security configurations.
Integrations were instrumented with Workday reporting and inbound and outbound EIBs, including web service and advanced report based EIBs, and HCM Core Connectors to propagate absence records into downstream reporting and payroll feeds. Reporting and analytics were incorporated using advanced, matrix, trended, and composite report types, plus dashboards, report schedules, worksheets, and discovery boards to support operational visibility and operational reporting.
Governance followed a formal change management process, with technical design artifacts such as configuration workbooks and functional design documents produced for each deployment. Testing practices included unit testing and end to end testing, and ongoing support processes used how to guides, tips and tricks, and incident and problem management to maintain Workday Absence Management and support HR operations.
