In 2017, Xylem implemented Esker Accounts Receivable to centralize electronic invoicing and outbound invoice processing. The deployment used Esker’s cloud-based platform in the AR Automation category to deliver e-invoices and to manage mixed digital and print invoice workflows across its operating footprint.
Esker Accounts Receivable was configured to deliver invoices electronically either by email with a PDF attachment or by providing customers a link to an online portal. The implementation applied e-signatures and timestamps to support regulatory compliance in over 50 countries, and the Esker online portal allows both Xylem and its customers to securely access and review invoices while customers select and manage their invoice delivery preferences.
For audit and compliance needs Esker provides unique username and password credentials for internal and external auditors to access invoice records. Where customers prefer paper, Xylem routes those orders to Esker’s mail production facilities where invoices are printed, folded, stuffed, stamped, handed off to the postal service and archived electronically, preserving a single control point for invoice distribution and retention.
The implementation impacted accounts receivable and billing operations and introduced governance changes around customer delivery preferences and credentialed audit access. The solution ties invoice issuance, secure portal access, and managed print and mail services into a consolidated AR Automation workflow designed to meet multi-country e-invoicing access and tax authority requirements.

Operational execution was led by a North American data lead who managed data validation and testing across the Workday HRIS implementation, and who trained the global HR team during rollout. The program established a single Workday HCM tenancy for absence and related HR processes and retained Workday AMS and HCM ongoing service vendor support as the primary service channel.
Governance centered on controlled testing cycles, report based validation, and security stewardship maintained by HRIT analysts, with a follow on Phase II that developed Workday Advanced Compensation capabilities. Workday Absence Management at Xylem was therefore embedded into global HR operations, aligned with compensation and talent workflows in the Absence and Leave Management category.

Operational governance centers on a centralized administration model, with Analysts and Developers maintaining release cadence, change control, and configuration management for both Salesforce and ServiceMax. This structure supports consistent governance across regions and business units, and positions Xylem to iterate on service workflows through joint Salesforce and ServiceMax administration.
