Horizon Power | Utilities | 611 | $438M | Australia | AMT-SYBEX, part of Capita plc | Affinity Fieldreach | Field Service Management | 2022 | n/a |
In 2022 Horizon Power deployed Affinity Fieldreach as a Mobile Work Management solution to improve field asset inspection and maintenance planning. The deployment targeted the utility's Distribution and Transmission assets across remote regional Western Australia, aligning mobile inspection workflows with the company’s operational responsibility to serve over 100,000 residents and more than 10,000 businesses across a large service territory.
The Affinity Fieldreach implementation centralized mobile capture of asset inspection data and automated transmission of inspection records to back-office teams. The solution was configured to support mobile inspection workflows, digital forms and scheduling to ensure timely, granular condition data collection from crews working in remote locations, and to route inspection outputs into maintenance planning processes.
Horizon Power worked with AMT-SYBEX to deploy Affinity Fieldreach and integrated the application with the company ERP system so that asset-related data is automatically collated into the corporate asset record. That integration feeds inspection and maintenance planning teams with a consolidated condition dataset, enabling planners to make faster decisions based on current field information.
Operational governance changes aligned field data capture with ERP-driven compliance reporting and shifted workflows toward near real-time visibility of asset condition. The implementation provides Horizon Power with more accurate, timely and granular insights into the condition of its assets, facilitates compliance by automatically collating asset-related data in the ERP system and supports the company’s move toward a real-time asset maintenance strategy.

National Grid USA | Utilities | 18177 | $15.2B | United States | AMT-SYBEX, part of Capita plc | Affinity Fieldreach | Field Service Management | 2014 | n/a |
In 2014, National Grid USA implemented Affinity Fieldreach in a Mobile Work Management program to extend enterprise asset and mobile data collection capabilities. The initiative was a first of its kind project in which National Grid worked with AMT-SYBEX, part of Capita plc, and 12 other vendors to extend its Ellipse asset management system and integrate Affinity Fieldreach for field data collection alongside SAP’s Mobility Platform and Work Manager, and Workforce Scheduling and Optimization by ClickSoftware.
Affinity Fieldreach was configured to host field data capture scripts and to standardize mobile forms and task orchestration for field engineering workflows. The implementation supported both Windows 7 and iOS devices and established single sign on across the mobile applications to create a consistent user experience for technicians working in the field.
The deployment architecture integrated Affinity Fieldreach with the Ellipse asset management environment, SAP’s Mobility Platform and Work Manager application, and ClickSoftware Workforce Scheduling and Optimization to form a unified mobile workflow layer. Integrations focused on synchronizing field-collected data with back office asset and scheduling systems to preserve operational continuity in field engineering processes.
Governance and rollout emphasized continuity of existing capture scripts by moving those scripts onto the new devices, maintaining established field engineering procedures while consolidating multiple mobile processes. The program united many mobile processes into a seamless solution with single sign on and enabled ongoing field data capture on modern device platforms, consistent with Mobile Work Management objectives.

Network Rail | Transportation | 40237 | $15.6B | United Kingdom | AMT-SYBEX, part of Capita plc | Affinity Fieldreach | Field Service Management | 2013 | n/a |
In 2013 Network Rail implemented Affinity Fieldreach as part of its ORBIS information program to establish a detailed asset catalog for switches and crossings, using the solution to deliver Mobile Work Management capabilities for field asset verification and condition capture. The deployment was developed with AMT-SYBEX, part of Capita plc, and ABB, and targeted mobile data capture on ruggedized Apple iPhone and iPad devices to transition inspections from paper to electronic workflows.
Affinity Fieldreach was configured with Fieldreach scripts that guide field operatives through structured inspection workflows, enforcing a sequence of questions and data fields for asset verification. The application surface allowed users to view Ellipse records for each switch and crossing, perform on‑site comparisons, create new asset records when no match was found, mark assets for potential obsolescence when present in Ellipse but not observed in the field, and flag issues for supervisor review. Field entries are automatically verified against ABB Ellipse and inspection results are relayed back to central systems where an engineer verifies them prior to final entry into Ellipse.
The solution integrates directly with ABB Ellipse EAM for synchronization of asset master data and inspection outcomes, enabling bi-directional verification between field inputs and the enterprise asset management system. The initial rollout plan targeted some 3,500 users as a first step, and the broader program timeline shows subsequent scaling of mobile equipment across thousands of field staff, with the rollout beginning in July 2012 and later equipping roughly 9,500 users and supporting millions of inspections through subsequent years.
Governance and process changes included a Solution Design Group composed of asset data specialists and field engineers who defined the Fieldreach scripts to mirror operational workflows, and a verification gate in central systems where engineers validate field-submitted records before updating Ellipse. The implementation impacted maintenance, inspection, and asset management functions by enabling condition-focused data capture and supporting a transition toward a more sophisticated condition-based maintenance policy. Reported benefits from the program include higher quality and more trustworthy asset information, improved decision making for maintenance and investment, and positive field usability feedback with a user rating of 5.5 out of 7.
