In 2024, Keltbray implemented Autodesk Docs as a Document Management application within a pilot of the Autodesk Construction Cloud to support Highways project delivery and the PMO Project Controls business integration strategy. The pilot was explicitly scoped to assess platform suitability and scalability for the Infrastructure division, with the goal of standardising end to end project delivery workflows under a single common data environment.
Autodesk Docs served as the core common data environment, complemented by Autodesk Build field applications and Autodesk BIM Collaborate for collaborative design workflows, while the Cost module is being evaluated to increase project cost visibility. Keltbray procured ACC licenses on an unlimited project based model and completed a programme of administration, configuration and user training to support initial set up, testing and phased adoption across project teams.
Cadline Customer Success and Technical teams provided ongoing guidance, delivering API and script support, Forge migration, data loading and interoperability services, and BIM and CAD standards assistance during the evaluation and rollout. Operational coverage initially focused on the Highways delivery team and pockets of the built environment division, with a commitment to full implementation on significant projects and evaluation for company wide adoption across Keltbray.
Governance adjustments were driven by the PMO, which established a regular meeting cadence with Cadline for implementation controls and workflow enhancements, and implemented administration roles and information management processes to align with ISO 19650. The approach emphasised standardised configuration, document control and collaboration workflows to reduce duplicate processes and to disconnect construction collaboration from internal Keltbray IT infrastructure where appropriate.
Outcomes reported by Keltbray include a step change in operational efficiency and a single CDE underpinned by Autodesk Docs that enables standardised information management for project delivery. Explicit benefits identified during the pilot include reduction in operational, design and project costs, improved design collaboration to shorten construction and pre construction lead times, and a platform to support sustainability and innovation objectives.
